~~ the waltz takes two
@electrodesonmyheart :
When Larxene was instructed to keep Aqua on watch, she didn’t expect it to turn out this way. But, then again, she didn’t expect her to be able to see so well in the dark. Spotting the dark cloak on a new-moon midnight was no small feat.
Larxene found herself swept away by the keyblade master she knew only by name. They danced like mystics under a starry sky. “I’m not used to this,” she says, “people, being in a good mood when they see me.” It was a welcome change, the bright heart of Aqua. For once that light was a source of comfort, of enjoyment. Maybe, just maybe, the light wouldn’t be so blinding.
Together their steps were quick, keeping pace with each other. It reminded Larxene of passing through the corridors, dodging the shadows that licked at her ankles. They danced to no music in particular and she had to wonder how long it had been since Aqua had a chance to dance with someone else. “Where did you learn these steps?” She asked.
And the waltz goes on.
“My friend Cinderella taught me.”
One step forth, one to the side, and Larxene felt light. Her feet were touching the floor, but only barely. One step backwards, then to the side. Aqua made sure they avoided a tree in their path. She was deliberately taking Larxene away from the Castle of Dreams and people, through the forest.
“She wanted me to be able to dance with my friend.”
Dancing was such an intimate activity. Their hands were linked, and ran her thumb over Larxene’s hand. She looked at Larxene’s eyes. Gazing at one another’s face was really the most you could do. Feel the brush of bodies... was this sensory experience more meaningful to a Nobody? Not just the heart, but the body could feel too.
“His name is Terra. He unfortunate events happened to him. You know him. So when you meet him, and the opportunity is ever there...!” Her blue eyes sparkled like a sea. Then she smiled so wide her eyelashes became two black bows. “Dance with him for me someday, will you?”
