Starlight goes to Canterlot with Sunburst but still has a falling out and heads to Ponyville with her dad
She grows up there and ends up friends with Fluttershy and Pinkie (because Pinkie is friends with everyone)
Twilight comes to town and Nightmare Moon shows up so the group of seven head into the forest
Starlight has her element test, they confront Nightmare Moon and save the day. Celestia is secretly freaking out because the balance of harmony has taken a drastic shift and her plan for Alicorn Twilight is now completely up in the air (she's not bad, she's just had a 900+ year life goal for more Alicorns take a beating with a stick)
