MOAR MUSIC STUDENTS!!!
I don't know if my teaching style has improved, or I'm just that dang adorable. But, I've gained a new private student this week and my elementary band at one school has 35 signed up (and 5 of them are advanced players that make a small chamber group for advanced band). But it's my other school that makes my heart swell. I am in my third year at both schools. School A has always done well in regards to the number of interested students, retention, parental support, and administrative support. School B, however, has always had poor numbers due mostly to poor support from administration. This year, we have a new principal and we became an arts focused school. Notice my numbers. Choir, Year 1, Semester 1: 28 Choir, Year 1, Semester 2: 10 Choir, Year 2, Semester 1: 8 Choir, Year 2, Semester 2: 6 Choir, Year 3, Day 1: 3 Choir, Year 3, Week 1: 16+ Band, Year 1: 4 advanced, 9 beginning, 13 total Band, Year 2: 3 Beginning, 2 Advanced, 5 Total Band, Year 3, Day 1: 15 total (my advanced players all graduated or moved) Band, Year 3, Week 1: Somewhere over 20 (based on emails flooding my inbox).
