the elemental witches are finally done with the air edition; Winduri!

So just like the Harpix quest a witch looking to become a Windury has to obtain a Harpix feather through one of the challenges and present it to the source of Harpix. Unlike fairies however, witches usually work more closely with the elemental companions of each quest (in this case the sylphs). Witches need a gift from their elemental companions to add to their uniform in order to handle the ethereal power bestowed by the elemental quests. Witches becoming Winduri get a Sylph's egg talon. These are the small claws that develop on a sylph's thumb in the egg as a help to crack the egg to get out (like a chicken's egg tooth). They usually fall off soon after hatching but are kept as a memento by sylph families. They lend a drop of Endless Storm magic for the witch to build on. The elemental witch forms still influence the witch’s biology, so here Lucy, who has strong Harpy heritage has very large wings, feathered ears and a feather tail in addition to stronger talons on her feet. Icy is also strongly aligned with the air element biologically and has facial/ear feathers.

The look of the Winduri's uniforms are often similar to whatever the Witch’s already existent uniform is based on, but it’s not a one to one. The wings in this form have small talons on the wings' thumb joints. The uniform also features wrappings on the legs/feet, a sleeveless shirt and the harpix feathers displayed somewhere on the outfit. There are swirling trails of wind attached somewhere near the harpix feathers that will drape around the witch like cloth. The patterns of witch's wings often mimic real birds, fairies in harpix are often less based on reality. in specific, the trix are all based on owls, Icy is based on a Snowy Owl, Stormy on a Great Horned Owl and Darcy on a Barn Owl (becuase even tho i love them barn owls are the creepiest lmao). Lucy is based on a swan because I love to include little ballet references in her designs (swan lake), and Selina is based on a Crow!

The earth elemental witches! Landrids!

So just like the Dryadix quest a witch looking to become a Landrid has to create a crystalline magic seed, grow a flower from it, and present it to the source of Dryadix. Unlike fairies however, witches usually work more closely with the elemental companions of each quest (in this case the Kodama). Witches need a gift from their elemental companions to add to their uniform in order to handle the ethereal power bestowed by the elemental quests. Witches becoming Landrid get a mask carved from a kodama’s home tree. Kodama each have a tree they were either born into(in the immortal forest) or that they have claimed (in the magix dimension). The Kodama’s life force is connected to their home trees and they protect them as much as possible. Kodama usually carve their own masks from parts of their own tree. It’s an incredible gift to receive any part of a kodama’s home tree and the masks lend a drop of Immortal Forest magic for the witch to build on. The elemental witch forms still influence the witch’s biology, but none of these babes are genetically predisposed towards the earth element.

The look of the Landrid uniforms are often similar to whatever the Witch’s already existent uniform is based on, but it’s not a one to one. The uniform features close toed shoes, a collar/breastbone portion, and occasionally transparent elements. Part of the uniform is made of the signature plant/flower they grew with the crystalline seed (Stormy has pink larkspur, Darcy has Lobelia, Icy has Morning Glory, Lucy has sage leaves, and Selina has dark pink roses). The Kodama’s mask is always present when in uniform and design elements from it are often echoed in the rest of the outfit. The rib cage is filled with plant matter just like in the fairys’ dryadix.

The fire edition of the Elemental witches! Known as Flamiarchs

So just like the Coatlnix quest a witch looking to become a Flamiarch has to obtain/craft a Coatlnix Ingot and present it to the source of Coatlnix. Unlike fairies however, witches usually work more closely with the elemental companions of each quest (in this case the Coatlni). Witches need a gift from their elemental companions to add to their uniform in order to handle the ethereal power bestowed by the elemental quests. Witches becoming Flamiarch get a djinn’s third eye. These are collected by djinn's family after a family member's death(djinn's turn to ashes when they die but their third eye solidifies into a metallic bone type material). They are considered familial heirlooms and lends a drop of Eternal Flame magic for the witch to build on. The elemental witch forms still influence the witch’s biology, so here Stormy, who has a bit of Dominian heritage in her, has some scales as a result. 

The look of the Flamiarch uniforms are often similar to whatever the Witch’s already existent uniform is based on, but it’s not a one to one. The uniform features metallic accents and sandals. Part of the uniform is made of live flame in the witch's signature color. The Djinn's third eye becomes a wire crown with a phantom third eye in the middle of the forehead.

The water edition of the Elemental witches! Known as Tidetressess

So just like the Sirenix quest a witch looking to become a Tidetress has to obtain a Sirenix pearl through one of the challenges and present it to the source of Sirenix. Unlike fairies however, witches usually work more closely with the elemental companions of each quest (in this case the selkies). Witches need a gift from their elemental companions to add to their uniform in order to handle the ethereal power bestowed by the elemental quests. Witches becoming Tidetresses get a selkie’s coat. This does no harm to the selkie (no controlling powers or bodily injury or anything, its just the portion of skin that a selkie that sheds every few years) but is deeply symbolic and lends a drop of infinite ocean magic for the witch to build on. The elemental witch forms still influence the witch’s biology, so here Lucy, who has strong Nixie (freshwater mermaids, distantly related to the salt water variety but are more amphibious, have a much smaller population, and are less involved in human society) heritage has finned ears, arms, and hands, in addition to gills, and Nixie like eyes. Stormy, as an Androsian, has a little bit of merm somewhere in her family, so she does have webbing on her hands and ears but it isn’t enough to produce any other effects. 

The look of the Tidetress uniforms are often similar to whatever the Witch’s already existent uniform is based on, but it’s not a one to one. The tail for Tidetressess are more seal like than fairies because of the selkie influence. The uniform also features the a swim suit like top strung together with pearls and water/foam cloth panel type things (sleeves, coat-tails, or high waisted skirt type thing). The patterns on their tails are usually a bit more symbolic of the witch’s preferred spell usage compared to the abstract fish-like patterns common in sirenix fairies. Their fins also have the witch’s signature shape at the very tips.

DRYADIX IS HERE I FINALLY FINISHED THEM

So just like Sirenix and Harpix, Dryadix is earned through a quest. Elemental quests are traditionally initiated through the corresponding elemental companion, but a “cheat code” exists in the Elementix Compendium to kickstart each of the quests with out a companion (if the fairy already has Harmonix obvi). The Dryadix quest requires a fairy to create a crystal seed out of their magic, grow the seed into a plant with at least one flower bud, and present the plant to the Source of Dryadix on planet Magix. Unlike like the sirenix pearls and harpix feathers, there are no riddles to solve to get a seed, instead the Elementix Compendium details crystalline magic creation and plant care. There would still be some kind of virtue trial in order to get the plant to grow but its literally just like. Patience, dedication, nurturing, etc, just the regular stuff to take care of plants anyways so it’s pretty straight forward.

Design! I’ve described Dryadix before when talking about Daphne and the elementix here but designing this transformation was a journey, the final results have serious differences compared to the original sketches I did. I actually ended up throwing some aspects of the “magic of joy” transformation from the comics in there? not a lot and only as i needed but I wanted a kind of ethereal feel to this one despite being the “earth” transformation for the elementix.  Basically, the updated Dryadix includes: loose hair styles with optional braids, a flower crown, a cropped vest type thing (neck collar bone and shoulders), visible ribcage filled with flowers, simple solid bottoms with some kind of waistband, a sheer multi-layer skirt, one sheer sleeve, solid color socks, pretty basic shoes limited to style lines as decoration, and a glove/bracer/arm thing that matches the boots and socks. The fairy wings resemble plant matter and have more glow-y veins than typical wings. Flora’s plant based biology is reacts strongly with this transformation, transforming her hands, feet, and ears into vines and branches (her eyes, if they were open, would have flower shaped pupils).

ON TO PHOENIX and maybe nymphix. or witch ethereal forms. idk.

HARPIX!! wings are super fun but also evil

So just like Sirenix, Harpix is earned through a quest. Elemental quests are traditionally initiated through the corresponding elemental companion, but a “cheat code” exists in the Elementix Compendium to kickstart each of the quests with out a companion (if the fairy already has Harmonix obvi). The Harpix quest requires a fairy to earn a Feather, and present the feather to the Source of Harpix on planet Magix (like the sirenix pearls, the riddles to find the feathers are also in the Elementix Compendium). Each winx would decide to find the feather on their own planet, and probably bond with their respective Sylph. I’m still figuring out how the feathers work but I figure there are special places or birds that generate the feathers needed and the fairy has to pass a trail to earn it. 

Design! I’ve described Harpix before when talking about Daphne and the elementix here but basically, half back hair, vest over bandeau or shirt, puffy/fluttery shorts or mini skirt(flora is the only one in a skirt here actually), tied sash or draped fabric, fabric wrapping on the legs, arms become wings, fairy wings resemble feathers and air currents. Though I’ve added: one or two feathers featured on the vest, sparkles on the bird wings, and more realistic wing types. the designs for these actually came to me pretty easily, I had some issues with Aisha and I wish I could have figured out how to push the asymmetry on Tecna more but otherwise I’m really satisfied with these.

Each girl has a different wing type!

 Aisha: strong narrow wings for soaring and endurance(think albatross) she’s not as agile in the air as she is with sirenix

Flora: Short circular wings (pheasants or quails) being the most earth oriented of the winx Flora does not prefer Harpix even with wings she’s more comfortable with short bursts of flight and staying on the ground whenever possible. 

Musa: Small and narrow, but extremely agile wings (humming birds) Musa is most at home in Harpix, Melodians have a strong connection to air elementals, Melodian cranes are a prominent figures in folklore, and are centrally featured in a Melodian creation myth. As a result, Musa gains tail feathers, extended feathery ears, clawed feet and altered skin texture going up the leg. (I probably went a little too hard on giving her harpy aspects considering she’s only half melodian and has no actual harpy blood but idc it looks cool)

Tecna: rectangular lift focused wings (vultures or pelicans) she primarily functions as a battle surveyor, circling the others as a look out. Zenithians have a decent connection to storms and air, and as a result Tecna has extended feathery ears in Harpix.

Bloom: powerful wings with decent agility and speed (Eagles or hawks) Bloom uses her hands a lot to channel her fire magic so transferring it to wings messes with her for a little while but she gets used to it

Stella: Long fast wings with decent endurance (falcons) Stella is the fastest flyer outside of Harpix as well and the skill transfers well. Solarians have a very slight connection to the air element but its not a lot so her ears have just a few feathers.

I have a question about magic! So, basically, witches can specialize in types of magic, and earn their rank by that, and change specializations whenever they want, right? Can fairies switch their transformations also whenever they want? Like, from Faunix to Believix? How does form evolution work in terms of that? Can, for example, a Nymphix fairy still use Phoenix? Thank you for your time~

Yeah! So basically Witches can switch their specialization but its kind of like going back to school for another masters degree lol, ya gotta learn the different stuff otherwise your just switching a meaningless title. Fairies on the other hand, once they’ve unlocked Enchantix, can use whatever transformation they’ve already earned at basically any given time. So a fairy could use Faunix one day, and then Believix the next. A Nymphix fairy could still use Phoenix, but probably wouldn’t because Nymphix has the same fire power level and Nymphs have access to all the Ever Realms(Infinite Ocean, Immortal Forest, Endless Storm, and Eternal Flame).  The exception to this is Charmix, which is a transformation that’s activated after transforming into Magic Winx, only lasts for a short time, and is only ever used as a stepping stone for young fairies to get used to the power level of Enchantix. Charmix basically becomes Enchantix after you earn it, so you can’t activate Charmix anymore because the power will just be directed to transforming into Enchantix. Enchantix Level Transformations are also extremely hard to transform between after the initial earning transformation, so while you could transform into Magic Winx and then immediately trigger Enchantix, you can’t go from Enchantix to Believix with out completely draining yourself and de-transforming.

if a fairy got a transformation that directly pertained to their power (like Aisha/sirenix, flora/dryadix, bloom/phoenix, or Stella/cosmix) would they get perks like bigger wings or something, or would they just get an insane power boost?

yeah so sort of! it actually depends more on their biology than their magic. For example, I’ve drawn sirenix already and while none of the girls are true blooded merfolk(seen here in Ligea primarily as Neptune, Nereus, and Tressa all have some human in them) , Aisha has additional merm attributes added to her sirenix form(the hand webbing, longer ear spears, and fin sizes, though even with a major joint her tail is by far the most bendy out of the winx) because of her biological ties to the ocean. (and yes this does mean that Flora will have additional plant attributes in Dryadix and Bloom will possibly have more dragon-ish traits in Phoenix but idk yet)

I think harmonix, the elementix, and Nymphix(sophix, amorix, and aterix to an extent as well but their side effects are not fun to deal with) would be the only transformations that would actually alter the fairy in a way that could be described as a “power boost” though Faunix and Fractix both alter the fairy’s core and major colors and provide a specific magical effect so i guess they count a little?
