eleore replied to your photo “I’m not really following orient but I saw the spoilers and Ohtaka...”
Ah, I was actually thinking about this, so it's so helpful to have a visual reference! I was thinking pink as well, but since we have red (Musashi) and yellow (Kojirou), a more blueish tone would probably be chosen for contrast?
It’s mostly between pink and blue in my opinion. Ohtaka loves drawing pink haired girls and most of them are important characters in her stories so there’s that point, but as you said blue would be a good balance to Musashi’s red and Kojiro’s blond hair. I hope we get her colors soon :D
3 and 5; Sinbad, Ja'far, Mystras, Hinahoho, Rurumu.
Thanks for the questions, Ele <3
3. In a car chase with
None of them drives car, but I’ll pick Sinbad as my first choice because he seems the type of person who wouldn’t mind to speed it up.
I don’t see Ja’far as the person who would speed his car up for fun but since this is a car chase I think he would make an exception. Plus, when Ja’far sets his mind on something he always succeeds.
Mystoras would to his best to make the car go as fast as it’s possible but I can imagine him freak out and make a mess at the same time.
Hinahoho and Rurumu, both can’t drive a fast car due to their huge psychical appearance.
5. On the run from corrupt authority figures with
Ja’far would be the best in hiding since once he was an assassin. Plus, if those authority figures even found us I could always let Ja’far deal with them.
Sinbad would also make a good choice. He adapts to new environment easily, he’s resourceful and he’s good at lying.
I think that Rurumu could also adapt in that new situation. She’s the one who taught diplomacy to Sinbad, meaning that she can also lie believably.
Hinahoho would be good at any psychical challenges we might face but I can’t see him lying as easily as the others.
Mystoras would do a decent job in hiding but I can’t imagine him being as good as the others.
@eleore replied to your post: Some news from Studio JG...
Assuming it’s not an excuse, the terms of their license might be different, I guess.
It’s fully possible I also misinterpreted the statement. I read “all licensing activity” to mean the licensing activity for everyone working on LH, but then as I was thinking about it, I realized that the WWB and NFR manga are still continuing in Japan. The “licensing activity” from the Google Translation may have only been referring to the Log Horizon novels, which would make more sense.
Would also make more sense even referring to Studio JG, as the last volume (volume 4) was released in June of this year. It’s not like there was a year or two-long gap since they’ve released anything.

• Hakuryuu sta combattendo Valefor!

Yes, that’s my hope as well. It was recommended to me and I ended up buying all volumes available at the time ahaha. Unfortunately it is quite above my reading level, so my progress is slow, but it is so worth it. A great combination of story, world building, and art.
I also never expected it to be translated nor adapted… at 18 volumes at the time, it was WAY too long for Kodansha’s standards. That said, it ended up having a digital only release…
Man, the art in this series is gorgeous. It’s impressive, really, that it’s all written and drawn by the same person! Especially since Kato was a historian foremost, I really didn’t expect this level of writing and artistic quality from a single person.
I’m also a sucker for turn-based strategy games like Fire Emblem, Civ 5 (the only Civ game I played), and Age of Empires, so the manga definitely scratched that historical fantasy + strategy + economics + politics itch that I had.
Hopefully the official translation won’t get dropped or anything... the Akira Ishida manga adaption of MAOYU seems to have gotten axed with only 2 or 3 volumes left to go (hasn’t updated in at least a year), which is a damn shame because MAOYU did, in my view, some things better than Log Horizon did, despite having the same author.
I was so pleasantly surprised by your recommendation of Altair! It is a brilliant story that needs more love. The official EN translation is quite good, and long overdue. I hope many people will choose to give this manga a chance.
Another Altair reader, nice! It’s quite overlooked, and even I don’t remember how I even found it. It’s definitely another one of those unknown gems, and I hope the anime will give it some more well-deserved publicity. A lot of us on Batoto had no hope of it ever getting an adaption, yet here we are!
I should check out the official translation, I’ve been busy with other things and haven’t had the time.
