Inktober 52 2025 - Week 51 - 'Capricorn'

A fascinating star sign; in the western zodiac it's a goat and often given a fish back end. In the Hindu astrology it's described as a 'crocodile' called Makara, but often depicted as a crocodile/elephant hybrid.

As I didn't do a traditional version for the Pisces star sign, I combined it here.

I like to share a few photos from a wildlife-safari in which I took part last year in Zimbabwe and Botswana. Photographing with others in a safaritruck is just point and shoot. But the whole experience is stunning.

It is a wonderful but dramatically fading world. An extremely growing and poor population with a high range of livestock farming has to protect their  poor little fields and the cattle. Landgrabbing and poaching is endemic. Even worse are the "needs" of a globalized world for trophys and luxury. And ridiculos (to say the less) is the demand of so called traditional chinese and other far eastern medicines for materials from wild animals.

The human species destroys the life chances of their non-human roommates (Achille Mbembe) and despite of all efforts there is only little hope for a change (see also the last Living Planet Report by the WWF)
