Pairing: Scallison //ugh i know//
The couple traveled down a long winding road. They have been traveling for at least four hours yet the teen taking the wheel didn’t show any intention of slowing down just yet. Allison glanced out the car-window, and found that she was completely unaware of where in the world they were.
She chuckled and turned her head to the driver’s side. “C’mon where’re we going?” A smile crept up on Scott’s face as he heard her laugh. He tilted his head towards the GPS and said, “You’ll see.”
She pouted, leaning her head sideways against the hard leather of Stiles’s jeep, keeping her eyes fixed on Scott. He noticed her silence, and glanced over at her. “What’re you doing Allison?” he said, curling a hand into hers, while keeping the other on the steering wheel. She smiled, dimples etching into her ivory cheeks. “I’ve lost interest in trying to look at mileage signs. I want to just look at you for a change,” she said.
“We’re almost there. I promise,” he remarked, squeezing her hand.
She groaned. “When you said we were going to eat out for my birthday I thought you meant some random restaurant in Beacon County not some random restaurant at the edge of the universe,” she teased.
“Who said we were going to a restaurant?” He grinned at her.
Allison raised an eyebrow and just sighed in defeat.
Scott turned the jeep towards a small dirt road, which led into a forest that seemed to stretch on for miles and miles. The trees created beautiful shadows on the forest floor. Pinpoints of light screened through the leaves from the highest treetops, which made everything glow in soft halos. Wild blue flowers grew from the ivies twirling around trunks of trees. Allison inhaled deeply, smelling the scent of pine and earth. “Okay I admit. This is a first,” she quirked with a satisfied smile.
They reached a small clearing, which dwindled down into a single path that perhaps was meant for joggers. Scott parked the jeep with ease under the shade of a huge oak tree. He jumped out of the car and went over to Allison’s side and opened the door. “C’mon,” he outstretched his hand and Allison took it and grasped his calloused fingers. He pulled her towards him and suddenly with one swift motion lifted her up into his arms. “Hey heY HEY SCOTT! SCOTT WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?” Allison laughed in surprise. The echoes of their laughter echoed throughout the entire forest. Scott seized the moment and spun them around a few times before stopping abruptly to kiss her forehead.
Allison leaned into his kiss and closed her eyes, savoring the moment. She couldn’t stop smiling. After a while he slowly set her down on the hood of the jeep. “Where did you find this place?” asked Allison. Scott disappeared behind the jeep, getting something from the back.
“My parents took me here when I was a kid. Amazing place right?” He returned with some camping gear, a duffel bag and a picnic basket. Allison’s eyes lit up. “Are we-“
“I asked your dad about it, and he’s fine with it. I asked Lydia to pick out some clothes for you just in case, after all the stars take a long time to come out,” Scott held up the picnic basket. “Surpriseee.”
Allison blushed. No one has ever done something like that to her before. “I- I don’t know what to say…” she stammered.
Scott set their things down and took out a blindfold. “You don’t have to say anything birthday girl. And it gets better. We have to walk, but its not far I promise. I want the finale to be a surprise,” he waved the blindfold in front of her. She nodded and Scott tied it around her head. She couldn’t help but smile. “You better not accidentally lead me off a cliff Scott.” He laughed.
He helped her off the jeep, carried their things in one hand and guided her as they walked on the narrow dirt path. He walked backwards, pulling her wrist with his hand. Allison was hesitant at first, but she soon let Scott take her wherever he wanted to go.
She tripped over vines and roots a couple of times, until Scott decided to let her have a piggyback ride for the rest of the way.
“Okay so on the count of 3 you’re going to jump and wrap your legs around me. Okay,” he said as he positioned himself with his back against her.
“Uhm I would be more comfortable if everything wasn’t being covered by a blindfold right now but uhm..,” she said nervously.
“Okay! Okayokay,” Allison huffed.
Scott felt her wrap her arms and legs around him and he held onto her legs for support. There was a small struggle but they ended up laughing at each other’s attempt “See? Wasn’t so bad right?”
Allison laughed even more and buried her face into his hair. She sighed. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too,” he chimed, carrying her with ease after doing so a lot of times before.
They reached their destination and Scott felt a sinking feeling in his stomach. I hope she likes it. He huffed a breath and said, “You can take off your blindfold now.”
She hopped off his back and lowered the strip of cloth from her eyes. She gasped, her brown eyes light with amazement. “Scott.. It’s beautiful.”
The sight before her was a huge meadow, that had a few dandelions and bright lavenders scattered here and there. There was a small permanent breeze that carried the musky scent of grass and flowers, which cooled their faces. The space created the perfect view to the vastness of the open sky. And Allison bet that if you lay down, it would almost be like standing under a huge glass aquarium that went on forever. It was a cloudy day, and they arrived at the moment where the first hues of pale orange started appear over the horizon. Allison has never seen nature this beautiful.
Scott smiled, happy to see her reaction. “I’m glad you like it, “he said, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear not taking his eyes off her.
Allison took the picnic basket from Scott and ran to the middle of the field. He chased after her, and when she heard him running she looked back and stuck a tongue out at him. She stopped over a patch of dried up grass and opened the basket and placed the blanket down. She plopped down on the blanket, Scott doing the same a few moments after. They sat across from each other and Allison started to set their dinner.
“Nah-uh-uh,” Scott made a sound and took the peanut butter sandwiches from her hands. “Nono its your Birthday let me,” he said.
Allison laughed and watched Scott arrange the food between them. It was a simple dinner. There were peanut butter sandwiches, apples, 2 pieces of chicken and some crackers. They talked and ate and laughed and for a moment they forgot about all the problems waiting for them at Beacon Hills. They were in a perfect world. A world without hunters or werewolves or the supernatural. They were in a world where all that mattered was the both of them and their picnic.
The sun started to set. Hues of purple and blue bloomed around the hazy yellow and orange orb hanging low in the sky. They cleared the food and Scott built a small fire about 30 feet away. They pitched up the tent and together lay down side by side to wait for the stars to come out.
Their shoulders were touching and she had one leg hooked onto one of Scott’s legs. She enjoyed being this close to him. “Why did you pick this spot of all places?” Allison took Scott’s hand.
He sighed. “Well, I wanted to go somewhere where we could be…”
“Free,” her heart softened.
Scott nodded, squeezing her hand for good measure.
Although it did work, she did feel free.
Night fell and the first few stars blinked before Allison’s eyes. “Scott look..” The stars looked like little bright pinpricks of white paint splattered in the vast dark blue canvas of the universe. In a way they also reminded her of flickering halos of fire, cursed to be suspended in the sky until their light grows dim. They were beautiful, dangerous and captivating to look at, all at the same time. More stars appeared and she let go of his hand and pointed at the sky, naming some constellations. “This is amazing.”
“Isn’t that one like Orion’s whip or something like that?” Scott laughed.
“It’s a belt Scott. A belt,” she corrected him.
“I’m not an Astronomer! I’m not good at belts whips or girdles or whatever,” he scoffed.
“Well you’re doing a perfect job being my boyfriend right now,” she said, smiling at the sky.
She felt Scott’s gaze on her, and blushed. “You know if you look away it will take time for your eyes to find the stars again,” she said, nudging his arm. Scott caught her arm gently before she could pull away. His hands were warm against her skin.
He gazed at their intertwined limbs and chuckled. “I don’t care…” His eyes trailed to her face. “Looking at you is worth so much more.. There could be hundreds, thousands even millions of stars in the sky right now but I would still find myself looking at you..” He sighed. “You are so beautiful Allison Argent. And I am lucky, so lucky, to be looking at you right now.”
After hearing those words, Allison did look at Scott, her hazel eyes meeting his dark brown ones. Every time one of the embers flickered on his face, his golden irises shone through, revealing the side of him she has learned to love. The shadows casted by the licking flames made his cheekbones and jawline look pure, and inhumanly beautiful.
Her eyes found themselves on his lips and she found herself leaning into him, catching his mouth for a kiss. Their lips touched and Allison felt her stomach flutter in ways she always felt when she kissed Scott McCall. It was a soft and intimate kiss. His lips were warm and firm, yet the way he trailed light touches on hers made her shiver. He tasted like apples and peanut butter.
She wound her hands into his chest, feeling his heart racing faster. He cupped her face with his palm and held her there, tracing soft circles on her cheek. He was lost in swirls of touches and stars and Allison. When they parted for air they rested onto each other’s foreheads, hearing their hearts pound in their ears.
They didn’t need to say it. The words hung around them, like they were carved into the air they breathed. For a while all they did was stare into each other’s eyes, and it was enough. For one shining moment, everything was perfect.
