Lukewarm take: this cutscene is the coolest thing Spartan Ops did (which is actually kinda sad when you think about it) and it makes me disappointed that 343 didn’t do more sequences like it. This is the only level in the game that my partner and I actually got excited playing through, and I get it’s supposed to be a firefight mode, but it just goes to show how much just one cutscene can do for immersion and hype. The rest of Spartan Ops is so boring and bland in comparison story-wise, and when you factor in that the overwhelming number of enemies gets repetitive and frustrating very quickly, you need things like this to keep us invested. 

It was so fascinating to see our Spartans actually have different perspectives, and it added to the personalities of the characters we had already made. I said it before, and I’ll say it again: there is so much potential for a spin-off game where people get to play their own Spartan/Elite ocs and see them in real-time cutscenes like this.

Imagine if we actually got to see a female sangheili in-game, 343 look what you are missing. The stories that could be told, the windows into sangheili culture that could be unlocked.

And man, do I love these designs, not to overly sexualised, but still enough to be obviously recognisable as female, with a feeling of grace and beauty. Yet, it still somehow exudes that feeling of dignity and honour that comes from the Elites and their culture. very nice
