One thing which I started in the middle of the night on the solstice at an auspicious time was my variation of Herman Boerhaave’s variation of the Paracelsian Elixir of Propriety. Boerhaave uses vinegar as the base for the formula instead of alcohol, and doesn’t take two months, and he called his Elixir Proprietatis. (wow, that sounds like Potterverse)
What you see in the upper left photo are (clockwise) food grade myrrh resin, my entire 2018 saffron crop and aloe vera gel from a plant I grew.
Each is 2.54 grams. That much spice comes from 293 flowers. Fucking saffron.
Boerhaave had his formula simmer for 12 hours together in the start. Mine are in vinegar in my Cordially Yours infra-red infuser. The photo on the right was taken at the 12 hour mark, and I can tell you this: that saffron is not nearly leached enough yet.
I want those threads almost yellow. The experiment continues.
