A rucas drabble
Something happy after my last oneshot
Riley huffs when she hears the loud pattering of rain against the roof tiles, she rolls over and sees her fiancé snoring quietly.
Riley frowns when he continues to sleep, so she pokes him.
He rolls over, bring his arm around her and drawing her closer but still not waking up.
Riley huffs again but before she could say anything a bright light fills the room followed by a loud boom overhead. Riley sits up in panic realizing that there is a thunderstorm and knowing there is no way she is getting to sleep now.
Lucas groans from beside her and that’s when Riley sees that she accidently hit Lucas in the face with her hand.
“Oh I am sorry Lucas.” She apologizes and Lucas groans as he sits up.
“That’s ok, I was awake anyway as someone kept poking me.”
Riley pretended to look shocked “Who would have done such a horrible thing.”
Lucas just shakes his head as he gets out of bed and walks out of their bedroom. Riley following quickly after she hears another clap of thunder.
She sits at the bar stool watching as Lucas gathers ingredients.
“Making chocolate chip pancakes.
Riley claps her hands in excitement at Lucas cooking her favourite breakfast. She glances around and notices that Lucas is looking at starring at her.
“Well aren’t you going to start building the fort?”
Riley looks at him in confusion before her face forms into a look if knowing.
She jumps off her stool and rushes into the lounge room, already gathering everything they need to build their fort.
It started one year in college where there was a massive storm and Lucas knowing that Riley hated storms built her a fort where the two of them spent their whole weekend, wrapped in each other’s arm. Ever since then it became a tradition to build a fort when there is a storm.
It took Riley ten minutes and once she was done she stood back to admire her work. Even though it was two in the morning, Riley felt wide awake.
Riley was just putting the finishing touches on her fort when Lucas came in holding a plate of pancakes. Lucas kisses her softly on the lips before pushing her inside the fort and following after.
Riley grabs a pancakes and starts eating it, loving the chocolate melt in her mouth.
“Your pancakes are my favourite thing!”
Lucas shakes his head and takes his own pancake in his mouth.
“Are you only with me because of my pancakes.”
Riley nods her head as she moans in delight at her pancake. Lucas just laughs as the two sit in silence enjoying the sound of the rain. Once they are done Riley crawls over to him and climbs into his lap, nestling into him as his arms wrap around her.
He kisses her softly, loving these moments where it’s just them.
“I think this is my favourite tradition we have.” Riley admits and Lucas can’t help but agree.
“And we will continue to have do this until we are old and gray.” He adds.
Riley looks at him and smiles, she couldn’t wait to create more traditions like this.
