i see ppl here frustrated with ellipsus' new paid tier which one hand, alright you're entitled to your feelings and whatnot. on the other hand, one of the co-founders talked about a paid tier years ago on an interview and so this isn't out of left field? it was always "if we establish a paid tier, we wouldn't sacrifice key features already there", and they followed through on that. i don't remember the exact words, but it did stick out at me because it made sense, and they didn't deviate from that framework. i'm actually excited for the next tier once i can spare the money! it's cute additions and i love that they have non-gen ai metrics

(also for those upset about the chat who don't know why it got moved, look on their faq: the collab chat is "powered by a paid third-party" and "rising costs and low usage" has made it difficult to keep on free. they didn't just move the chat for no reason, but with ellipsus' rising popularity, they couldn't afford to keep it free. unfortunate, but makes sense.)

anyway tldr ellipsus has been transparent on the big things ppl are frustrated about. i, for one, am happy with the free tier for now but will move to the plus once september comes around :)

Listen, This alone I find worth the license. A literal side by side view with my text that shows me where my densest word repeats are!!!! A passive voice detector that WILL JUMP ME RIGHT TO THE DETECTED SENTENCES . Showing my my adverbs!!! And way prettier than Word has ever attempted to be. Oh. *fans self* Please fucking. take my money.

Is Ellipsus Plus Worth It?

I don't know yet, I've had the free trial for 10 minutes.

But I will tell you that when they say no credit card needed yet, they do mean it. Not a trap like some places do. It was a couple clicks to start the free trial no additional information required. They said they would send an email at 4 days and then 7 days when the trial expired.

I opened one of my wips and the Ellipsus Plus custom theme design.

Only have just started to dive into the simple settings for custom theme, but it looks pretty robust and thorough.

As someone who regularly changes the themes, knowing that I could custom design a theme for each fic I am working on, yeah that is really appealing. But if you are someone who puts it in dark mode and then moves on with your life, don't know if this is worth it.

We'll update in a couple days once I've played with more of the plus features.

Any Ellipsus users considering trying Ellipsus Plus? Curious if anyone thinks the features are worth it.

I’m not sure I'm the target audience, but it’s possible I’m missing a feature/something that would be really useful (aside from just supporting the company).

Should I go to bed? Sure. BUT I could also see what the new ellipsus tool has to tell me about my writing process. Yes thats a perfect sleep alternative, we're doing that instead.

just got into the of Ellipsus Plus free trial and goddamn it the writing insights are just what I needed in my life. I might do a very bad financial decision soon.
