This woman #nikkigiovanni is special to me personally for many reasons. Not only is she one of my favorite poets, she shares a birthday with @dorothyknows AND read her/our book and agreed to give a back cover blurb in 2014...All because I wrote her a letter and asked her to... When I was at @howard1867 my mom and I went to go see her at a booksigning in DC. While I was talking to Nikki, my mother took pictures of us which she shared with me later....That was my Mama always my cheerleader....This footage is from @mrsoulthemovie which is winning awards left and right. A project years in the making...I am so proud of it's director who like me honors her elder family member #ellishaizlip by sharing his legacy...This clip is just one example.
