Hey! I just started reading Magience and I think that it's really great! It makes me really happy to see that something started in 2012 is still being worked on. Love the humor in it all, and it kinda gives me some good nostalgia towards old series I watched that are as great as this comic.

Just started reading your comic, and I caught up in one day. I think I'm addicted now. Good work! You guys should be proud of yourselves! Amazing characters and story writing! My favs are Easton and Ezra.

Much later, I'm still having troubles trying to design a website for my webcomic-- and no matter where I look, there doesn't seem to be any helpful tutorials or anything. Is having my comic hosted by Smackjeeves a better choice? I really have no idea which to choose, and what the differences between being hosted or making your own site are... Which do you think is a better choice?

Oh boy.

Using a hosting site means having to work with their limitations in exchange for having access to their userbase. For SJ, they let you have a LOT OF customization freedom for your website, even moreso if you’re a donator! I really like using SJ for that reason - plus, when there’s problems with the site, usually it’s the host’s fault and they take care of it fairly swiftly. SJ rarely has downtime that I’ve seen.

Sites like Wordpress that are for the most part completely your site are nice if you want lots of customization, but don’t have a built in comic-reading userbase that may find your comic while browsing the Recent/Newly Updated tabs, so it can be harder to establish a readership. You’ll need to advertise, which can be a pain.

If you’re just starting, I recommend SmackJeeves. They have built in page templates that are fairly easy to edit, tutorials, and forums dedicated to helping people edit their site. It’s very helpful!

Out of curiosity, what website did you use to create you own site? I'm using Wix and I'm having a hard time trying to figure everything out.

Magience is actually hosted by Smackjeeves! It allows for a lot of customization, and has built in tools for uploading and managing comics. We use GoDaddy to have our own domain name. (I’ve tried using Wix in the past, it was always really slow and buggy on my computer. They may have improved it since then, it’s been awhile, but I’m still loathe to trust them.)

If you want to post comics, using a hosting site like Smackjeeves or The Duck (formerly Drunk Duck) is a good way to start. If you’re just looking to make your own website, Wordpress is much easier to use and still allows for a lot of webpage customization!

Btw do you plan on releasing more items on red bubble eventually, just out of curiosity? And that is assuming that the page I see is owned by you guys? :O (that way I can support you guys aaaand get stuff!)

We do own the store on redbubble! And we do release merch designs when we can, the ‘Class’ designs are currently in progress!
