Name: Behemoth Alternate names: Verticalan Behemoth, Eloniosan behemoth, Titan Mowlmouth Scientific name: Behemoth behemoth Original Creator: Swaggerwrist/Omegasquid/Alienologist Size: 55 meters long (Male) 50 meters long (Female) Description: The Largest land animal on Elonios, the Verticalan Behemoth truly lives up to its biblical name. While they aren't as long or tall as some other Titanotheres, they are by far the heaviest, with weights of up to ~350 tons. during the mating season, males lead herds of females across the steppe. The Verticalan Behemoth is the most widespread member of it’s genus, found up north near the tundras to south clear to the Agirozonic, overlapping the ranges of several other species of behemoth, such as the Tundra Behemoth (B. borealis), Southern Behemoth (B. agiria), and closely related genera such as the Mowlmouths, and the Spadehead. The Behemoth, like many large Titanotheres, are animals which live in herds, consisting of a Male and his harem of females. In the mating season, the herds will gather and the males will engage in contests looking for females, with males using their frills, brightly colored crests and their neck spines to display to each other, or, if push comes to shove, fighting each other in brutal combat. Behemoths, when fully grown, have little to fear, simply due to their sheer size. When giants such as these fall, it feeds the land for often, surprisingly long times, especially as things like fungi break down the leftovers of scavangers.

“…The Red clays formation is a formation from the foothills of what is now the southern part of the Whitlatch mountains. Deposited around 10 million years or so after the Surachian-Erdanian boundary extinction, which was by far the worst in Elonios’s history, sometimes referred to by Eloniopaleontologists as the “great wiping”, an event which saw a staggeringly large amount of terrestrial fauna go extinct, resulting in an aforementioned wiping of the slate, so-to-speak, for new animals to colonize land. Gone were the megafaunal, terrestrial arthroderms which had dominated land for nearly 100 million years; and the Terrapods benefited greatly from it. The almost total collapse of terrestrial and freshwater habitats allowed for retestomes, such as basal and stem-terrapods, to colonize the lands. The red clays formation captures this boom in terrapod diversity, with a wide range of forms both completely foreign and basal to modern lineages…”
