I’m so excited for the upcoming books and (hopefully!) finally getting more of Lucien and Elain’s story. Their romance has some of my favorite tropes of all time. Give me reluctant mates, yearning, longing, impossible circumstances, and a slow burn that actually earns its payoff every single time.

SJM has said she was going to create tension before the healing, and that’s exactly what we’ve all be waiting for. Every obstacle in their story exists to make that eventual moment when they choose each other even better. That’s the magic of a slow burn, the longing makes the payoff unforgettable.

So this beautiful piece of art felt like the perfect one to share for Elucien Week. 💛☀️And when these two finally come together? The fire Elain is destined to feel is going to burn so beautifully. 🔥✨

Ending the year with an Elain and Lucien commission by the talented and amazing vallerony_.

My jaw was on the floor from sketch to final because, my god, look how good these two look. We wanted to lean into angst and tension, which perfectly sums up where Elucien is right now. And honestly? Fated mates who are reluctant will forever be one of the best tropes. The slower the burn, the better.

To say vallerony_ captured the tension and longing perfectly is an understatement. If there was ever a headcanon I’d want to see play out, it would be this one: Elain and Lucien getting caught up in their travels, a rainstorm rolling in, forcing them to find shelter together, and the slow burn finally starts to pay off. Also, imagining when Elain sees Lucien’s back for the first time. 🥺 Will she ask, who did this to you?

Although we anticipate tension and angst before they find healing, we trust in SJM’s world, which has a proven track record of bringing fated mates together and can’t wait to read their book.

One of SJM’s old Pinterest board posts had artwork of a lady with a rose tattoo on her back. Of course this made us think of Elain. How maybe Elain would have a rose shaped bargain tattoo with her mate in future books.

DMONYART did an absolutely INCREDIBLE job! Elain looks positively gorgeous! We love her cute little smile and blush 🩷. Lucien looks insanely handsome. We love how he’s tracing Elain’s tattoo with such love and reverence.
