being pregnant with a rambunctious hybrid 3 year old in tow is, alena has learned, quite difficult. nym was just barely showing at this point, but the pains and wells of emotions were present regardless. their body was taking to this pregnancy much easier than it had with hyacinth's. alena recalls sharp hungers and burns when not preoccupied with the bliss of future motherhood along with the perfect mate. this pregnancy was... different. the ache was... dull. alena was not prone to ravenous cravings as much as they were simply bloodthirsty. there were a few times where beomsoo had come home from a job and alena had jumped his bones, eager to taste the grit and grime of plasma. it was strange, but the fridge was filled with pig (and other) blood upon paion's recommendations.
hyacinth was reacting relatively well to the news of his mother being pregnant. although he couldn't exactly understand alena's newfound inability to run as quickly or play as rough as they used to, he was patient and loving and nothing less than a mama's boy. it seemed that he was very protective, though. much like his father, hyacinth was wary of strangers that approached alena and was quick to growl or snap his teeth, hugging firmly to his mother's leg. there were only a few times that the nymph had to profusely apologize to the poor department store worker when hyacinth had bit at his hand. it was a warning bite if anything. if hyacinth had intended to truly hurt him, then he wouldn't have a hand left. the nymph didn't have the heart to discipline him for it. hyacinth had only been trying to protect nym!
waiting to be called into paion's office for their scheduled prenatal exam, alena rubs the delicate swell of their belly as they watch hyacinth preoccupy himself with a puzzle toy. he was growing well. cute and chubby and everything alena knew he would be. soon, paion advised, he'd have to begin some sort of schooling. alena wrinkled their nose at such advice, preferring to teach hyacinth the ways of nymphs, but would keep the doctor's recommendation in mind.
"ah, ah hyacinth--" alena chirps gently. "not in your mouth. your spit can be acidic to other children." a fact they had learned the hard way... "beomsoo, make sure he doesn't chew on the toys. where are his toys..?" alena rifles through their tote bag for the demon specific chew toys paion had administered to them during his last checkup. it seemed that chewing was natural for especially hybrid children. he may or may not grow out of it, but alena doesn't mind either way.
