Fitting in with people her own age shouldn’t be this obnoxious. The people were all just so rowdy and overly cheerful. It was a pain to keep up the smile when all she wanted to do was crawl back to her room, or maybe even go out. A night in the town would be better than watching kids awkwardly interact. If it weren’t for the fact that she had to gather information for Cinder, she wouldn’t even try.
Being a social butterfly wasn’t her gig, but she could pull it off for the endgame. Waving off a group of ‘friends’ she made on the fly, Emerald continued down the school halls. God she hated it here. Rounding a corner, Emerald nearly bumped into a somewhat familiar face. She was very certain this girl was a part of the Vital lineup Cinder had shown them.
“Oh gosh, I’m sorry.” Holding up her hands, she offered a sheepish smile. “This place is so crowded, it’s hard to get around without crashing into people.” Well it wasn’t a lie at least.
