The Nasty Habits Circa 1989 Photographer Unknown If you were a fan of Motley Crue in the late 80′s, you probably remember “The Nasty Habits” - the blond duo who sang backup to some of Motley’s biggest hits. Sadly, in February 2017, Emi Canyn (left) passed away. Her obituary reads as follows: “Emi Jo Schmidt "Emi Canyn Mars" died while at her residence in Lacey, Washington on February 25, 2017 at the young age of 62. Emi is survived by her siblings Barbara Reines (Johnny), Kenneth Schmidt (Monique), H. Douglas Schmidt (Janet), Rob Schmidt (Dee), Jeri Ovechka (Ron), and Jon Schmidt (Dawn). She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Eleanor Schmidt, and her sister Joan McMahan. Emi was born on December 5, 1954 in Tacoma, Washington to Floyd and Eleanor Schmidt. She graduated from Mount Tahoma High School in 1973. Emi had a love of animals. She had many four-footed friends throughout her life, most recently two puppies, Kujo and Gizmo. Emi was an accomplished performer, singer, and song writer. After moving to California in the late 1970's, Emi continued pursuing her passion. She sang lead vocals in several bands including Canon, She Roc, and Alice N Thunderland. Emi also toured with Motley Crue, singing backup vocals. Emi loved her family, and was passionate about blessing others' lives. Emi was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She will be remembered as a kind, talented, and loving daughter of God, who embraced the beauty of the world around her. A memorial is scheduled for April 15, 2017 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 12407 Military Rd E, Puyallup WA 98374. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Emi's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County at 2608 Center St, Tacoma WA 98409 http://www.thehumanesociety.org. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support.” Rest in peace Emi.
