I would like to hear your thoughts about this. So Undertaker says that Vincent's body was burned to ashes, interesting. Well I know there are companies that will takes the ashes of people & use pressure 2 form the ashes into a gemstone, or crystal not sure if that would be possible at this time period but I know he wears a ring perhaps the gem on the ring could be the ashes of someone's body turned into a gemstone? Plus Vincent was burned UT won't be able 2 make a hair lock like he did before:D
Hi! :) That’s a nice thought. I have actually thought about the idea that the ring could be a memento for Vincent, too. But I didn’t think about the possibility that the gem could have been made out of his ashes. I'm not sure if that was possible at that time, either, but this manga has some progressed technology, especially for shinigami, so it’s not impossible.
The problem that I see, however, is that not only Vincent’s body burnt to ashes but the whole manor around him did, too. So it was probably impossible to tell what’s his ashes.
And according to some of Yana’s sketches the ring actually contains a strand of hair, too.
It’s a bit strange that Undertaker doesn’t have a mourning locket for Vincent since he seemed really sad about his death and he seems to have a locket for all the people he cared about. He wouldn’t have needed Vincent’s hair for a locket. There are other lockets without hair. That’s why I thought that maybe the ring could have been for Vincent. But the hair inside the gem doesn’t really look like Vincent’s hair and like you said, there was probably no hair left to use.
So the ring is probably a mourning jewelry for someone else.
