OMG you guys! look what came in the mail this week!!!!!
huge thank you to @citri-nate and their generosity!
please check out their art for sale and their ko-fi for high quality prints and original work! The color is steadfast and everything arrived in perfect condition. I can't wait to hang everything up in my office and think of Rivetra 🥺 thank you again Nate 💕
Happy New Year, Rivetra fam! This time, last year, I was extremely depressed, feeling the weight of 2020, and was wondering what 2021 would hold. It was also the time I fell back in love with Attack on Titan and Rivetra.
This year has been tough, but I’ve made such beautiful friends from this fandom. Writing has helped me in so many ways, and thank you for being along this journey. In 2020, I rediscovered my love for the written word, pouring myself into books I’d put off after 6 years of school and starting my first full-time jobs. In a way, the pandemic taught me to slow down and lean into the hobbies that I once enjoyed when I had more time for them. 2021, I wrote for the first time in ages. Who knows what 2022 will hold, I’m keeping my expectations open after learning the only thing that is certain is uncertainty. Regardless, I have my writing, I have a couple of big Rivetra fics planned (Hades/Persephone, Priest Levi, and writing more of It’s Always Sunny!) that I'm excited to get to!
So, cheers to the new year! I’m so glad you’re here.
Hi! I have a question.
How do you know how many chapters your fic will have while you are still writing it?
It might be stupid, but I know nothing about writing to any tips are cool
hey Nate! 💕💖🥰
thank you for the question, I love talking about writing processes since it varies so much between authors 🥺and not a stupid question at all, it's something I had to figure out after writing multiple fics!
for "fun" fics (they're all fun, but the ones I take more seriously, aha), I usually plot with just bullet points and that contains the scenes/moments I definitely want to write. from there, I try to gauge where breaks would be appropriate. this came after writing several fics, I have a hard time with pacing which is why all my early fics are long one shots! for loose fics like fire alarm and a few others, I don't plot all the way out.
once I have chapters, I see where I want to fill it in and if it would contain enough content for a full chapter, voila, I have chapters!
I use Scrivener to help me draft, but Notion does the same thing!
here's an example from heart like yours! the left side is my "binder" where I do all my brainstorming and plotting, and the right side is my overall view.
on the chapter view, I utilize the right side to have the overall summary of the chapter, then under notes, I have all the scenes I want to write! sometimes things shift around to other chapters, but I try to have a few scenes planned out so it's a fleshed out chapter!
I hope that helps, lemme know if you want more info 🥰
write for yourself
make media for yourself
shit, all art you create is for YOU
everyone has a story to tell and it may awaken some feelings within you. that means it was worth consuming.
take a breath. ask yourself why you’re feeling like this and then thank the creator for eliciting emotions; that’s what makes us human.
at the end of the day, they’re just feelings.
take responsibility for them.
just had a lovely meeting with colleagues and we got onto the topic of death (just normal work convos lol), and I recommended staring at the sun (the real one by Yalom) and I'm like oh god please don't find my fanfic about ghost BDSM
*screams* I love love!!! as shitty as the world is, there is something so special about being with someone who makes you feel like you're the only thing that matters and this is why I'll never stop writing/reading romance!
