for the cafe ask game:
terrace: what is one thing that you’d do differently if you could start this year over?
cream: do you think you’ve changed over the past 5 years? If so, how?
honey: share a valuable life lesson that you’ve learned while growing up.
jazz: what do you believe to be your best personality trait?
macaron: what was the last movie that made you cry?
Hello! Thank you for the ask 💫
Terrace:
I tend not to try and have regrets but, I would def do all that stuff I was putting off that I have suddenly have had to do this week >.<
Cream:
Oh yeah I have definitely changed! For the better I hope (you'll have to ask my friends about that one though). In that time I have moved countries so I like to think that has got to have changed me somewhat.
Honey:
There are so many life lessons but they always have one moral:
Always choose kindness.
Jazz:
My ability to make bad puns or portmanteaus
Macaron:
Ohh i can't remember! It is probably Toy Story 3? Or 4? those endings always get to me
happy valentine's day!! 🥰🤍🍒
love, ana
thank u!!!! i lover your twilight/taylor gifsets sm they give me life, love u
Biscuit, nutmeg, and oolong for the asks?
Ohh thank you for the ask! ✨
biscuit: if you were reincarnated as an animal, what animal would you be?
I would probably be a sloth or a capybara because they seem chill. I would just want a low stress animal tbh
nutmeg: if you were hypothetically stranded on an island, how long do you think you could last?
I would not last very long at all, embarrassingly short to be precise. I need my technology and my mod cons
oolong: if you could learn any magical spell, what would you learn and what would it do?
A spell that could conjure up a hot coffee or tea at a moments notice because that would be incredibly useful and I would be using it several times a day.
21. what’s your favourite lgbt+ movie?
fried green tomatoes!! before you come for me, let me explain. i’m aware that whoever was behind adapting that movie from book to big screen largely missed or ignored the fact that idgie and ruth are literally a lesbian and bisexual couple. the book is definitely more of an lgbt+ work than the movie, in fact, i strongly recommend the book if you are someone who is uncomfortable with how the people behind the camera attempted to “de-gay” it bc it’s pretty damn gay. For me, though, the gay was still there enough that when i was growing up and kind of working up to the realization that i loved women, idgie and ruth were one of my first clues that it was normal to feel so strongly for a girl and maybe even live with her and raise children. seriously, the love story is probably my number one favorite, and they only share one kiss on the cheek through the whole thing. mary stuart masterson and mary louise parker portray two women deeply in love through just their dialogue and their facial expressions, and i fucking stan. like, the director might not have understood what this book was all about, but those actresses did, therefore, i still class it as an lgbt+ movie even if there is some debate around that.
thx for ur input but the 60k people that show up at each of her shows says otherwise, also you’ve been blocked sis!
for glee, 5, 9, 10, 12, 16 (haha), 23
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
I… actually don’t think so? Honestly canon did an excellent job of fucking up tons of ships without any help from fandom.
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
I was gonna write a thing about how Glee didn’t give a shit about consistent characterization so this question’s kinda difficult and that’s true, but I also know deep in my heart that the answer to this question is Will Schuster. I can handle characters fucking up, and even fucking up repeatedly, but as soon as a character is narratively praised for doing something terrible I hate them forever. And with Will it was especially grating because I actually really wanted to like him, because I’d love to see more shows set in high school with teachers who actually help their students. And the show kept telling me Will was that kind of teacher but it was clearly a lie like 90% of the time!
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
(Did Glee even have arcs? Mostly they just went for series of barely-related events, tenuously held together with on-the-nose song selections.) Santana’s “coming out arc” (I refuse to type that phrase without the most sarcastic of sarcasm quotes) is probably the worst one, but honestly there are so many. Quinn tries to steal Beth in s3. Marley has an eating disorder and everyone hates her for it. Sam/Brittany. Tina’s obsessive crush on Blaine. Rachel abruptly quits her role as star performer in her favorite Broadway musical. (There are more storylines I hated but a lot of them were mercifully contained to only one or two episodes, and so don’t really count as arcs.)
12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
Terri’s fake pregnancy. Don’t know if it really counts as “unpopular,” but I know a lot of fandom (reasonably) derided it for dragging on and being unrealistic. But the ridiculousness of it was kind of why I liked it, honestly - it fit really well into the particular brand of dark comedy Glee was in s1, and Jessalyn Gilsig played her so well. Terri and Kendra’s inept scheming was so much fun to watch, and everything that happened at Sheets’n’Things was gold. It would have been nice if Terri had got to be at least partially sympathetic a little more often, but it still wasn’t bad.
16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?
I would have had it cancelled after s2.
23. Unpopular character you love?
Glee fandom was so goddamned fractured I don’t even know what characters were generally unpopular tbh. So instead of unpopular lets go with most ignored character I love! And that’s probably Emma. She admittedly doesn’t get a lot to do apart from being Will’s on-again, off-again love interest, but whenever she did actually get a storyline she was great. And Jayma Mays is an underrated actress.
[send me more salty asks!]
1 and 3!
1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
for dw, definitely doctor/river. honestly all my complaints about that ship (and river as a character in general) were said like 3 years ago but honestly it’s still kind of impressive how moffat managed to write a female character with so many things that were Do Not Want. unnecessarily traumatic backstory? check. supposedly has a career and independent life but never has storylines without the doctor? check. tries to kill him but she’s a woman and attractive so really it’s just aggressive flirting? check. gets married to the doctor even though they never actually act married because moffat has to make all of his characters the most specialest ever in the history of the show? check.
i was about to say that my most-hated ships in other fandoms aren’t really popular enough to count as otps, but then i remembered hp fandom and now i am duty-bound to state that i hate literally six out of the top ten most popular ships on ao3 (which, in decreasing order of popularity, are harry/draco, harry/snape, hermione/draco, hermione/snape, lupin/snape, and harry/voldemort). i know every fandom goes hard for terrible white dudes but the scale to which hp fandom loves snape and malfoy will haunt me till my dying day.
3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
i don’t think i’ve ever seen a fandom opinion and immediately gone nope, that’s it, off my dash (partly because i just don’t follow that many people to begin with), but there’s a good chance that having the Wrong fandom opinions will make it easier for me to unfollow someone for another reason (like if they move into new fandoms or post a lot without a good tag system and my dash is just too cluttered).
i have probably decided not to follow someone because in scrolling though their blog i discovered that they have bad opinions on a fandom neither they nor i were actually active in anymore, though.
