Malik stretched his arms loosening the tight muscles in his shoulders as he stepped off the boat. He had been deployed for a very long time and it felt good to be home. He took his time as he meandered down the familiar streets of Barona. He paused momentarily to pull back his long, blond hair. It had gotten long and scraggly over his absence. He’d have to remember to get it cut soon. 

Malik paused in front of the Knight’s Academy, debating walking through its halls. Even though he was no longer an instructor, he had such fond memories of his time there. After all, that was where he met Emily.

Emily... He had to leave so suddenly be barely had time to say good bye. He wasn’t sure if she had been informed of his return. This time of day she would probably be at work at the Barona library in the castle.

It did not take Malik long to reach the library. There she was behind her desk. Her long hair pushed haphazardly behind her ear as she intently studied the book in front of her. Malik quietly approached the desk and set his bag on the ground with a heavy thud. 

“I don’t suppose you could direct me to the books about long-awaited reunions?”

Noctis stopped when he got to the living room. He was a little shocked on how it looked. It wasn’t as bad as he thought. He stood there watching Emily a few minutes. “This room looks nice. At least the old wallpaper is gone.” @emily-lotus

She gasped in pain as he twisted her arm. She tried to pull away from him. Looking into his eyes she could see his madness. He hadn’t slept well in weeks. Even after their little sessions, she slept while he stayed awake.

“Ardyn! Yes, it’s late.” She groaned in pain as he held her arm in its position. “It was the only time I had! I haven’t been able to do anything in days!” That was true too. She was too scared to come out of hiding for fear of being found by Somnus or that Oracle. She finally wrenched her arm away from him and held it close against her body. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she backed away.

“No! I’ve not seen him in months! Ardyn please I would never betray you!” She wasn’t even able to tell anyone what the Oracle looked like. She just knew it was that girl that they knew. She hit the wall, still crying as she slid down and sat on the ground. “Ardyn my love please, I just went to clean off our chocobo’s. I’ve spoken to no one but you.”

He stared at her as she pulled away from him, first in a strange kind of incomprehension, then with dawning alarm at her reaction. Was he wrong? She’d been acting strange for days as he’d come and gone, occupied with the latest outbreak of the disease he’d been sure he’d eradicated from the the city... He was still trying, but it was growing more and more difficult for him to heal as he grew more and more exhausted. 

When she’d finally left their room so late, he’d been concerned - first for her safety during such a time, but then with wondering what could possibly motivate her to leave him at such an hour.

“Somnus said... he told me he was going to speak with you...” He’d been threatening Ardyn... with her... threatening her? Ardyn couldn’t remember... he’d been so furious... 

He felt a sudden sickening churning in his chest and his shoulders tightened, his own hands curling inward towards himself.

“Of... of course... you’ve been here the whole time, haven’t you? You can prove this to me.”

“Emily, I, uhm.” the brunette was hesitating, unsure if she should ask her question. Though, since she already started she should continue, as it would probably be rude to stop midway... But wouldn’t it be rude to ask this question in the first place?

The teen takes a while to weigh the consequences of her words, before finally settling on asking, “Are you sure you want to hang out with me...?” she trails off into silence as the reporter intertwines her fingers. Leia avoided eye contact for a while in her struggle to speak; she stared at her own two feet before raising those emerald hues to look at the other.

“I know you prefer to spend time with Gaius more.” she was probably just someone to kill time with--a convenience.

Emily was stunned. ‘Welp, I am not getting out if this one so easily….wonder how much over time will have to make up for this….’ she thought gloomly to herself. Erston was for sure going to kill her. She was the one who put the deposit diwn though, he just crashed here when he didnt want to go to the inn. Right? She wasnt sure anymore all she knew was they had to clean somehow.

“Come on, lets get to work…” she turned the stove off so no further disasters could happen. Looks like they were going out for dinner tonight.

“Huh. I thought for sure that would work!“ Leia said with a confused look on her face. “Oh well!!” Before Emily could blink, Leia had dashed into the bathroom and out in a maid outfit. (that she conveniently brought with her??) She grabbed a mop and a bucket. She also attached some scrubbing brushes to her feet. “Okay, now I know this idea will work!” She began skating around the kitchen while cleaning. She had the best ideas. Or, at least she thought she did.

“I highly doubt you’re really okay, but we’ll go with it.” She smiled at the girl.

“I’m Emily by the way.” She extended a hand out to the girl. She wasn’t sure how to approach her really but figured she would try. She could tell something was wrong still.

“Nice to meet you Emilly~!” she chirped, shaking the other’s hand. “I’m the Great Pirate Captian Patty Fleur~” Patty was a bad liar, but she was good at avoiding things.
