“That doesn’t mean you can’t take a chance and open yourself up every once in a while,” she said as Roni refilled the blonde’s glass. It seemed like there wasn’t a single time when Odette hasn’t rejected some poor soul who tried to hit on her while she was at the bar. Well, some of them were total idiots and Roni had to interfere to rescue her friend, but some weren’t even half bad. “I’m not saying you should marry the first person you see, just… come on, live a little. How bad can it be?”
A slight frown etched itself on the blonde’s lips as she let Roni’s words settle and find their way just under her skin. She might have had a point. Not that she was about to admit it or anything, but there may have been some truth to the brunette’s sentiment. Odette had been quick to brush off the poor guy and his offer to buy her next round of drinks. She looks sheepishly over her shoulder at the rebuffed man now talking up some redhead. At least she didn’t have to add guilt to her list of sins. It was just that... Odette didn’t do attachments ( not since Neal ) and it seemed every time she did consider the possibility of opening up things went... wrong.
Except with her, apparently.
Roni might just have been the only person she’d formed any kind of attachment to in years that bailed or asked for too much, or both. What that meant, she wasn’t sure, but it was definitely a thought that called for more alcohol. Reaching for the glass, Odette took a long sip of her drink. “You tell me.” She leaned an elbow against the bar, dropping her chin into the palm of her hand as the fingers of her other hand traced the rim of her glass. “When was the last time you lived a little?”
