Self-Insert Week: 2/10 (Emo, Rick and Morty)

Self-Insert: Emo Echo

Described In Three Words: Certain, proud, active.

Trait They Share Most With Me: We share the trait of defining ourselves by our communities! Both of us are queer and counterculture and socialist and we largely base our interests and activities around other people who fit our worldview. 

How They’re Different From Me: I am not half as confident as this Echo is. They take direct action, where I’m always overthinking the consequences of my interference. They’re much more adventurous and proactive. 

Do They Change The Canon Plot?: Zero Rick doesn’t really have a canon plot to interfere with! But yes, they disrupt that codependent Rick-and-Morty relationship that’s so integral to most Ricks. My version of Zero Rick is only focused on one universe, so I feel like he’s less jaded than the Ricks who have to see so many alternate selves and their actions. 

Fun Fact: I got into Rick and Morty because I had to study it for a film class in second year at University. The teacher gave his lecture before we watched the show, and didn’t bother to tell us which one was Rick and which one was Morty, so I didn’t understand a damn word of the lecture. (I would also say that Rick and Morty is the #1 fandom that I am Very Embarrassed that I enjoy, but it genuinely makes me happy in a way I do not understand)
