The end of Emptees

Thanks for the rad time over at Emptees and the exposure , time for Mintees.

I Miss Emptees...

So I made an account at Mintees "the replacement for Emptees". If you don't know what Emptees is it was a social network for t-shirt and graphic designers to sale and market shirts and designs. Well about 4 months ago Emptees closed it doors and let Mintees take over. So me thinking its gonna be the same I make an account and customize it to make it look good and what not. http://mintees.com/people/201903 I start posting my designs thinking I can start this company back up again, well they have a people judge the designs and see if its good enough for the website, I post 3 designs thinkin' im a sure win... Nope DENIED I compare my designs to that of ones on the website. Mine I guess are two simple to be on the website, not bloody or gory enough, or not cartoony or a million colours. What I liked about Emptees was the brutal honestly that the critiques were, I know alot of people didn't like it, but I like to think it made me better. To prove those assholes wrong.  So my plan is to post my designs on here the ones I can make the more simple ones. I'll have a few up in a bit, and I'll post my more wacky stuff one Mintees to see if I can get approved. Then share them with you!

If you like my designs and wouldn't mind supporting me that would be great too!

I don't get.

The fuss about illustrator/designer tee websites. If it was really a great design then surely they could either produce and sell it themselves or get a shirt company to do it. It seems like a circle jerk to me. Never been keen on the idea. Some cool shirts have come as a result, but not that many. Surely as a graphic designer I should be compelled to fill my wardrobe with these original exciting designs. Nah, i'd rather tell everyone that the bands I listen to are cool.

End of an era

Well not really! But the thing which first inspired the creation of Psyched sadly ended this week. Emptees.com was a site which revolved around the illustration and design of tee's that we stumbled across in 2008. Since then its been a main influence behind the business, constantly making us improve and providing us with vital information to start Psyched. Its not like we were the only 'emptees brand', so many indie brands have started due to it. With a great community and awesome designs without doubt was one of the best websites on the internet and it will be sorely missed. Shame it was a money pit for the creators, as well as the users becoming slightly racist and also constantly hating each other. Yet this drama created the vibe which made it so entertaining.

Sorta sums up how much effect media has upon the lifes of 'our' generation that a website can change someones perspective on life.

Thankfully due to Dobi and the AKT enterprises a replacement was put in place just before emptees was taken down. So really emptees has just moved to http://mintees.com/
