DAWN CREPT EVER NEARER, COAXING MIDNIGHT HUES TO FADE IN FAVOR OF THOSE OF SHIMMERING GOLD, and still, he stood in watch. for this far north, in this cold and foreign land, resided his dragon queen not five paces from his growing shadow. — she’d feigned slumber, of that he’d grown certain; though keenly observant he’d always been, it was the familiarity between them that’d rooted, that had held his mark, now. “ are you certain, “ he began, protesting as he often had, “ — that this king cannot wait? ”
Also speaking of interpretations/misinterpretations (and giving David Webster a good smack) I've frequently half-entertained the idea of figuring out some way of setting up a poll to assess when people think the narrators of my fic are correct or incorrect (or partly/dubiously correct) in the assessments they're making about other characters/themselves/the world around them. I love writing unreliable narrators, but--particularly in a fic context, where readers are coming to these characters and relationships with their preconceived ideas about them--I'm always curious as to whether the things I wrote thinking they were instances of the narrator being insightful vs. obtuse are the things that readers find to be instances of the narrator being insightful vs. obtuse. The agonies of interpretation!
i am nøt made før such things.
i never have been. i never will be.
it is nøt the helm that did this tø me.
