@enduresit gets a bonus lil thing

she sees the movement out of the corner of her eye before she hears the quiet knock on her window. instinctively baran knows before she even looks just who is standing outside of her car. she knows why he’s up here. there’s no reason for him to be up here tonight. his ride home isn’t up in this parking lot. no. he’s come for her. robby. it takes a moment for baran to find the will to move. there’s a soft sigh on her lips as she reaches her left hand to first unlock the car door before she’s opening it without a word.

to anyone else watching, her movements would look planned. like she’d been waiting for him to show up. only she hadn’t been, but without a word she still knows. it only takes one look into his deep brown eyes for them to exchange all of the words they need to. she hesitates for a long moment, looking back at him as she weighs it up in her mind. she knows what he’s offering. once upon a time she wouldn’t have hesitated to accept, but now….

she moves. slightly slower than normal, exhausted from the long day with a tiredness that’s been triplicated due to what’s been going on. undoing her seatbelt, she slips out of the drivers seat and leaves the door open for robby before she’s rounding the vehicle and climbs back into the passenger seat. baran still says nothing, unsure what there is left to say at this point. resting her head back against the headrest, she closes her eyes and waits in patient silence. either for him to talk or to hear the sound of the engine start, but she’s not sure which one she wants to hear at this point.

"For goodness sake." he was trying to keep his temper in check, but walking into a room he thoughts was empty to see her in the corner, he felt a spark of frustration. "Mohan! What are you doing?" he snarled out, thumping a hand against the door frame, "Hiding in fuckin' patient rooms now? Seriously?" he shook his head with huff, moving to leave, and then paused. Hesitated, just for a moment, as she took her in properly. "Are you okay?" it wasn't asked gently, but it seemed honest enough.

the sunglasses covered the double black eyes. but nothing got past pope. he should’ve known the second he’d walked into the house that the bruises weren’t going unnoticed. pope’s question hung in the air between them, simple and direct, and somehow that made it worse. jaw tightened as he leaned back against the kitchen counter, arms folding loosely across his chest. for a moment, he considered brushing it off. saying he’d walked into a door or taken a bad hit. but pope wasn’t stupid, and j wasn’t interested in insulting him. “ just some guy, ” he said finally, voice even despite the dull ache throbbing behind his eyes. “ thought he could get his point across with his fists. ” a humourless smile tugged briefly at the corner of his mouth as he reached up and pulled the sunglasses from his face. “ didn’t work. ” his gaze lifted to meet pope’s, steady and unreadable. “ I took care of it. ” and he had. that wasn’t the issue. the issue was the look on pope’s face now, the quiet intensity of it. because j knew that look. knew exactly what happened when pope cared about someone and thought they’d been hurt.

if  ever  there  were  roles  to  be  doled  out  amongst  the  cody  boys,  baz  would  be  the  fixer.  easily.  level  -  headed  in  the  face  of  the  inevitable  chaos  they  deal  with  day  after  fucking  day,  and  andrew  envies  that.  he  envies  the  soundness  of  baz's  mind,  how  he's  always  been  able  to  talk  him  down  from  ledges  he  can't  seem  to  talk  himself  down  from.

wild  mind  strays  from  the  semi  -  stability  smurf's  ground  up  pills  once  provided,  gaze  locked  on  the  full  moon  in  the  dead  of  night.  summer  breeze  is  gentle  against  bare  skin  in  a  way  he  feels  he  doesn't  deserve.  fingers  twitch  and  curl  by  his  sides,  itching  to  pummel  something.  where  baz  knows  logic,  he  knows  aggression.  when  smurf  plays  her  meticulous  mind  games,  aggression  turns  red  hot.

"the  hell  do  you  want  me  to  do,  man?"  questions  the  younger  cody,  muscles  fluttering  in  his  back  beneath  the  barely  -  steady  rise  and  fall  of  each  breath.  "smurf's  bein'  smurf.  you  wanna  try  to  fuck  her  over  at  her  own  game,  good  luck."  still,  baz  is  his  brother.  baz  is  the  one  he's  always  yearned  to  be  like.  baz  is  the  only  one  who  can  convince  him  to  stray  from  under  smurf's  thumb.  teeth  clench,  realization  leaving  a  bitter  taste  in  his  mouth.

Samira was trying to get better about knowing her neighbors. She figured it was a decent first step to not being a terrible shut in. An elderly woman who would chit chat with her over tea between shifts. A mother with two kids that she helped when one kid scraped her knee really bad. Then there was Andrew Cody. The most reluctant neighbor. A man who seemed to mostly keep to himself.

Samira had tried to respect his need to be alone she really had. She just seemed to gravitate toward this man. Seeing him in the hall and stopping for a quick chat. Last time she had she was telling him about this restaurant that reminded her of home. Her real home in New Orleans where she'd grown up with her Dad.

So today Samira was at his front door. She was still in her scrubs with her a frizzy mess. She probably should've gone back to her place first to change clothes and fix her hair but she hadn't wanted to get cold. So she smiles at him warmly. "I brought food from that place I was telling you about. I've got a few Po Boys and an order of Boudin Balls. Are you hungry?" She's smiling so bright, so very excited to show him a little piece of her own home.

the words don't come as a surprise after the last 24 hours they've had. another fool had tried their hand at killing rachel and the team had spent a good amount of time making sure they knew what hell on earth was. "are you flirting with me so i'll check out your ass?" a joke from the brit, paired with raised brows. there was no luck here - only skill - and their skill was why they were alive after so long.

"i'll get the kit and clean you up," the kit being stolen and illegally purchased items from a hospital, put together for times like this. hospital visits weren't safe. and they knew how to stich each other up anyway. the kit is brought over, opened. and sidney gestures at his partner to drop his pants. "how exactly did you get it in your ass?"
