“Forgiveness?”
Pearl’s eyes, when they met Garnet’s, were wide and bleak. Her entire body trembled. She felt so - so small. “How can I forgive him? He took Rose!” She was gone. She was gone. She’d actually left them, and all that was left of her was this - this - thing. This human. This tiny, wriggling…Pearl couldn’t look at it. She didn’t want to be anywhere near it. It wasn’t Rose.
“How can you just - just - act like this is okay?” Garnet had known Rose almost as long as Pearl had. They’d fought in the war together, they’d - they’d been through everything. How could Garnet stand here and talk about forgiveness when Rose was gone?
It just proved that she’d never loved Rose like Pearl did.
“I’m not going to forgive him,” she said with steel in her voice, looking away. “I’m not going to live with him, so just - just leave me alone.”
