On this rewatch, I specifically looked out for Rainaldi and really, it's interesting, bc you might think he's some sort of a shady character, but he actually does nothing wrong. Philip, our narrator, doesn't trust him and so Rainaldi is presented as untrustworthy, but of course, Philip is a biased narrator and probably prejudiced too. But Rainaldi always treats Philip with courtesy, and even when Philip overturns his table in anger and pins him to the wall, Rainaldi kept his calm and was still polite and respectful. The film also makes him explicitly gay, which speaks in his favour, as Philip suspects something is going on with him and Rachel.
