He didn’t think he was going to end up here again after so much time was spent back in the ruined Soul Society, and as of now there was no one else he could call upon. All the lessons and mistakes paid off, in the end. They are not the greatest, nor they are anything as good and pretty as Morgiana’s own baking, but there’s a small set of heart-shaped chocolate with a bit of a mess frosting on top of them, and it’s something that a sword like Kanesada would certainly have trouble with for quite some time. Regardless, they are perfectly edible ( not the most delicious ones, but edible nonetheless ), and he could only hope they suited Morgiana’s tastes. Attached to the set, there was a small letter:

And finally after all those lessons, I managed to make something for you myself! They aren’t nearly as good as yours, but I hope they’re good enough? I put a lot of effort in these, so I hope you like them.

Valentine’s isn’t something we swords celebrate, but I take it it’s something that makes you happy, so I wanted to make you something. It’s a… thank you gift. It has been a whole year since we met, and you’ve brought nothing but happiness into my life. I definitely couldn’t imagine my stay here without you. So… thank you. For being such an important part of my life.

I hope your life here has been just as enjoyable.

While she doesn't speak with Kanesada as often as she should due to being overwhelmingly busy lately, it's a nice surprise to see that he'd prepared a gift for her for the holiday that he didn't even celebrate. To think that he had gone through this much trouble just to be able to make her chocolate.

And surprisingly, though to most they wouldn't have been the most delicious in the world, she rather enjoyed them. For it was not how they tasted that mattered to her, it was the thought and effort that went into making them. Besides, anything that was made for her especially was treated with great care, the chocolates are no exception. Reading the note only solidifies this. And for a moment, she does reminisce on her past here. While it wasn't always the best, she has met people that she'll never forget in her life here. Including the man whom she is able to love along with friends that she could never be without.

It's a nice feeling. ❝ I have to tell him something later...I suppose. ❞

On a day gloomy and monochrome as this one, the heavens cried. A shower of tears cascaded off into endlessness far as the eye could see. There was a fogginess about the wooded area that stroked eerie layer into an already tense-toned painting. Needless to say, it caused problems where the noble’s visibility was concerned. A downpour of sky’s water --cold to the touch-- had drenched him entirely in a matter of moments. The wetness turned all that it covered into restraints. Ebony tresses and casual attire clung to him as if forcing a desperate embrace for comfort. Though, all of this could ( and would ) be ignored. Not as if he was left much of a choice in the matter anyway-- he had encountered an enemy of sorts. This ‘enemy’, unlike any other, would likely be the most formidable yet: his own zanpakuto.

In a fell swoop, all of that power once recovered was stripped from him yet again, leaving him bare. Dubbing his predicament with ‘vulnerability’ would be an understatement. The zanpakuto that he spent decades fighting alongside now donned a luminescent glower at him, clad in a samurai’s armor and equipped with what should’ve been Byakuya’s blades. Unarmed against swords --especially his own-- he didn’t stand much of a chance, despite being well-versed in close combat. Senbonzakura would utter not a word, but his angry gaze voiced volumes in his stead. The zanpakuto was thoroughly displeased with its master. Perhaps this execution would serve as atonement for relying on Senbonzakura too much without the full extent of his strength in the city. If he felt that were the case, he would openly accept death. However, something felt amiss. And for that his resistance was as strong as ever, despite how futile it was.

The petals of his own bankai ( floating peacefully until now ) sped toward him, but Byakuya didn’t show any signs of opting to back down. On this path of self-destruction, he walked.

Ever since she had spoken with Kashuu and he had dodged her questions about whether or not Kanesada was doing fine, there had been a lingering worry in the back of her mind. While he hadn't directly lied to her, it was still something that didn't seem...right. And it didn't quite feel right to leave things as they were. So what does she decide to do? Well, after mulling over the possibilities with herself, she set her mind on paying a visit to this 'Shinsengumi' headquarters herself, as that's where Kanesada would most likely be.

But it'd be pretty rude to turn up without a gift, especially on the day of what was supposed to be Thanksgiving. And while she had never been too big on holidays, she was especially happy to be able to practice her baking skills with the help of Mukuro. And so, with a cake in her hands, she makes her way to sector six.

It doesn't take her long to find this building, though she is awful nervous to knock. Only after five minutes does she muster up enough courage to knock on the door, shifting from foot to foot as she waits for someone to open the door. Maybe they'd answer quicker if they heard her voice...? ❝ K-Kanesada! It's Morgiana...it has been awhile, I know. ❞
