Dio Brando and Diego didn't get along at all in eyes of heaven but do you think DIO and Diego might?
Nah, not really. Although in canon DIO will be friends with almost anyone if he can use them so there's the possibility he'd want Diego as a minion. Or a pet.
do you think Eyes of Heaven is a mediocre game?
Yeah I sort of do. The rounds go too long and the level design isn’t the best. The graphics and the character models especially are good but they’re carry-overs from All Star Battle. And there’s stuff they re-used from ASB that doesn’t work in EoH: ASB had taunt animations, this game re-uses those but badly, in ways that don’t make sense. There’s also lip/audio sync issues - not all the time and some of it’s because of the ambitious number of voice clips - but as an example, in ASB when Dio came out to match Jotaro he smiled tons and in EoH that level of thought isn’t taken re: expressions and animations.
All Star Battle was just objectively better, I’m biased toward that type of fighter but still. They should have stuck with what worked and just added new characters and some new mechanics. Also I’m 95% sure there’s no local multiplayer. There’s no training mode. Also, there’s no road roller.
The reason to play is literally hours of original character-specific interactions - intros, win quotes - those are extremely well thought-out. Also, Heaven Ascension Dio is there, thank you based Araki.
My favourite EOH quote is Wammu just sating "GRIN" and nothing else

Between the four of them, there’s a lot of ego going on. I think I like the Dio v Wamuu lines the best.

I can’t find my scan but it’s the Ultra Jump interview with Hiroshi Matsuyama, it came out shortly after EoH’s release in Japan.
What is your favorite EoH themes?
Don’t hold me to these since i haven’t played it in a while but probably Rohan, Bowie Kira, New Moon Pucci, Mariah, and Part 3 DIO (of course).
