DamiColin has been my silent obsession for ages ngl. I have so many little headcanons! Keep in mind- these are personal preferences. They are very much....not? On par with the general headcanon norm I usually see; but again: I'm not here to yuck anyone's yum so I really hope no one does mine and this can be a mutually respectful space (or at least I can gush in peace on my own blog)
While for most of their childhood and early teens, Damian is (to his chagrin) shorter than Colin- he does surprisingly shoot up during their late teens and surpass his boyfriend by a good 3 inches. And yes, he does like to remind Colin of this at times. Colin, of course, just will either give him an amused (and smitten) smile....or purposely use his powers to bulk up bigger and taller to send Damian into a huff- which in turn sets Colin off in laughter...and thus Damian can't help the fond twitch of his lips at his lover's teasing.
Damian likes to be the big spoon in bed for several reasons. For one, it allows him to hold and scent at Colin, which gives him reassurance even in sleep. Colin is one of the few people Damian can let his guard down fully enough to sleep deeply (even though he keeps a knife under the pillow, to Colin's eternal exasperation). Damian can know if/when Colin shifts to get up for any reason. After Colin's disappearance for several years as a child, where not even Bruce or he could locate the ginger; as well as his eventual reappearance at Wayne Manor, with a suspiciously spotty memory but his last adventures with Damian fresh in his mind, and deep shadows in his eyes... Damian was understandably wary of another separation or kidnapping. Especially during the early stages of their relationship (even though he knew it was irrational at that point). Another reason is that Damian likes to feel Colin's heartbeat beneath his fingers, the rhythm a soothing lullaby mixed with the scent of apples and honey shampoo that always cocoons Damian in the reminder that the man in his bed made his way back to him single-mindedly out of love.
They are not a very PDA couple even infront of the Wayne family, just due to personality (Damian) and past situations (Colin). However, Colin's prone to occasional bouts of insecurity, anxiety, and depression. Especially where it concerns Damian's status and reputation as a Wayne and Colin's as Gotham's 'Cinderella'. During times like this, Damian will go from discreet hand holding or offering his arm; to a public, claiming hand on Colin's hip. Firm, several second long kisses to his temple. A whispered affirmation or praise in his ear where someone might see Colin's cheeks go red and Damian's gaze turn subtly posessive on his unsuspecting future husband, but not hear what is being said.
Bruce calls them Gotham's Golden Couple, much to Dick's delight and Damian's chagrin (he and Wally stepped down from the moniker once they moved permanently to Dick's penthouse in Blüdhaven). When Damian is finally ready to propose to Colin, Bruce gives Damian his parents' wedding rings and his blessing. He has to swallow the urge to shed a surprised tear or two when Damian pulls a nervous Colin into his office later that year, the ginger stuttering through a quiet request for the elder Wayne to walk him down the aisle. "Of course....It would be my honor." He chokes out firmly as he pulls Colin into hug. Dick is, of course Damian's best man at the wedding.
