Quick question! If I have Epic Experiment in my graveyard and I cast Past in Flames, will I be able to choose what I want X to be, as I figure it would be, or would it be 0?
Past in Flames gives Epic Experiment a flashback cost equal to its mana cost, i.e. XUR. When you cast Epic Experiment from your graveyard, you’ll choose the value of X just like if you were casting it from your hand.
Situation: I have something reduces the costs of instants and sorceries by 1. I cast Epic Experiment for some arbitrary amount of mana. First spell it hits is Prosperity. When Prosperity resolves, does everyone draw 1 card or zero?
When you’re casting a spell without paying its mana cost, X in that cost can only be 0.
Just cast Epic Experiment for 12
Eleven times in the same turn
(if you copy it with Twincast or Reverberate or similar spells the copy can find new copy spells in your library to continue the chain - just remember to have graveyard-shuffling effects or you’ll deck out)
I've got a few questions about Epic Experiment: The spells are cast one after another, but only start to resolve once each spell has been cast, right? Where on the stack is EE during this process? And when does EE leave the stack? Also: Triggers from casting the spells (e.g. Talrand) go on the stack after EE finished resolving but before their respective spells resolve? Thanks for the clarifications!
You cast all of the spells you want to cast in the order of your choice. Epic Experiment is still on the stack at this time, below all of the spells that you’re casting. When you’ve finished casting as many of the spells as you want to cast, you’ll put the rest of the cards into your graveyard, then Epic Experiment finishes resolving and goes to the graveyard as well. Only at this point will any abilities that triggered from casting the spells from Epic Experiment go on the stack, so all of your Talrand triggers will go on the stack together and resolve before any of the spells.
Epic Entrance.
