Roald Dahl remade The Gremlins into a darker full-length novel called Some Time Never: A Fable For Supermen.

He really did include an entire paragraph about gremlin ass in a book about nuclear and biological warfare, misanthropy, and mass extinction.

I'm not suprised about that at all.

Thinking about the way Oswald specifically says Mickey gave up his Heart "to save a gremlin he just met" like it was only Gus he was saving, like Oswald's life wasn't also on the line in that moment

Thinking about the way the first thing Oswald said after Mickey went to see if he was okay was "bet you're sorry you had to save me too"

Thinking about the way Oswald truly believed in that moment Mickey would have left him for dead if he had been the only one captured

ANYTHING. oswald as good as said he thinks mickey would leave him to die and we didn't get to see mickey protest to this #squeaking hours #but also. very very funny to see oswald say this. considering. my headcanons wrt thinner path mickey's feelings towards oswald #'he wouldn't have saved me if only my life was in danger' says guy whose brother would kill a man for him #like u are literally going to be the only reason he spares the mad doctor's life in the next game #but sure buddy keep telling yourself you don't matter to him #but then again OUGHHHH HE THINKS HE DOESN'T MATTER TO HIM..... THAT'S HIS FUCKING BROTHER AND HE THINKS HE DOESN'T MATTER TO HIM #god maybe i should write a fic where mickey brings it up. bc wdym oswald thought he didn't matter to mickey and no one corrected him #there should've been a scene where mickey makes it clear that of COURSE he'd save oswald too. i'm so mad we didn't get that #and like you'd think they'd want to make it clear he would! you'd think they'd want him to reassure oswald!#if only because it'd be good for maintaining his good guy branding like disney are so desperate to do #but no. he keeps quiet and says nothing even though he should've reassured him. it's SUCH a missed opportunity #especially considering a moment like that would've gone such a long way to add more weight to why oswald chooses to forgive him for the TD #i've said this before but mickey hasn't done MUCH to earn oswald's goodwill back after confessing despite being genuinely remorseful #the fact he saved oswald's life would be a point in his favour IF it wasn't for the fact oswald doesn't believe mickey was saving him #the reassurance he WOULD have saved oswald would put that rescue in a new perspective for oswald #and then that gives him another reason to decide to forgive mickey: because he sees now mickey DID intentionally save his life #and if he's willing to save oswald's life. maybe he's being genuine about his willingness to save wasteland too #so maybe oswald CAN trust him. maybe. maybe he can even forgive him #U SEE WHAT I'M SAYING??? MICKEY SHOULD'VE SAID SOMETHING AND IT'S CRIME HE DIDN'T BC IT WOULD'VE ADDED SO MUCH #sighs. gotta do everything myself around here since disney won't do it for me.....
