Philipp Zöhrer, better known as erdball, is a music producer and student currently studying Communication Science at Universität Wien – but wants to get into Graphic Design. He comes from a little south Bavarian village near Munich, and moved to Vienna to study.
He basically collects vinyl, dj and records mixes. “I also jam on the Electribe-Er1 sometimes, but there I am a rookie!” His first influence was the New York scene around Tim Sweeney and DFA RECORDS. I listened to his radio show Beats In Space a lot (and still do) that unveiled a whole new world for me. Cosmo Vitelli, Legowelt, Veronica Vasicka, Optimo Music and the Cómeme guys had a big impact on me as well.” At the moment, the Düsseldorf scene – Jan Schulte (soundcloud.com/jan-schulte) and Munich's Public Possession – inspires him a lot and always seems to surprise him. “And of course, Vienna has some quality stuff to offer as well, including Discus Throwers and Ascending Waves.”
Future plans involve djing more publicly, record some songs and throw some parties.
