It was a hectic week for this yeoman family, but also a productive one. Turns out that jars of jam are way more popular than putrid-quality honey, lol. The candles sold pretty well too.
Isidora was in charge of making the jams and candles, while Landon took care of the beehives...or tried to, at least. The bees didn't take to him very well, bless his heart. He did better at tending the produce stand.
As the eldest child, Eric spent some time learning the family business. He got along well with the bees, though he'll need to be vigilant about taking care of them if he wants to get anything better than horrifying-quality honey, lol.
Graham was responsible for fetching water from the community well, though sometimes he got distracted if there were any gnubb games going on. He did help Anya out with the gardening, though.
The only thing Sofya had to worry about was learning her toddler skills. Between all the grown-ups in the household, she learned all three!
When she and Graham aged-up at the end of the season, she developed the Supernatural Fan trait, just like her mother Isidora. Graham grew up to be a Bookworm....a very muscular bookworm.
Between the excellent profits and bonuses from business rank-ups, the Winthrops were able to make a hefty contribution to the Royal Treasury!
Occupation: Beekeepers and Candle-makers (Chandlers)
Character biographies and screenshots of the house below the cut. This is a bit of a long one, just to warn you, lol.
Landon Winthrop
Traits and LTW: Hates the Outdoors, Couch Potato, Neat, Family-oriented, Frugal; Renaissance Sim
Landon’s great-great-grandparents emigrated from Everford to Tredony with the Ravenwoods to act as their servants and serfs. When Prosper Ravenwood was a child, Landon’s grandparents moved the family up into the Yeoman class, leaving the Ravenwoods without a live-in serf family. It was also at this time that Landon’s great-great aunt married a man from a neighboring village, who’s last name was Pritchard.
Landon's first wife Hortense died of ranting shortly after their son Graham was born. To cope with his despair, he made a pilgrimage to Yacothia to seek spiritual guidance from the Jacoban shepherds. While there, he met Isidora and her sister Anya, who were looking to leave Yacothia. Landon fell in love with Isidora, married her, and brought both sisters back to Ravenwood to live with him and his sons.
As a family-oriented man, his biggest priority is to make sure his family is taken care of.
Isidora Winthrop
Traits and LTW: Supernatural Fan, Rebellious, Loves the Outdoors, Frugal, Green Thumb; Alchemy Artisan
Isidora and her sister Anya grew up on a peasant farm in Yacothia. The local Jacoban church owned most of the property where they lived, and their family worked the land as tenant-farmers. Unfortunately, her parents died of the flu during a minor outbreak in the area when Isidora was a teen. The girls managed to live on their own for a while, but the ever-increasing rent and taxes levied by the Jacoban church made it difficult.
When Isidora met Landon Winthrop while he was on his pilgrimage, she and Anya saw an opportunity to get out of Yacothia for good and hopefully start their adult lives on easier footing.
She's always been curious about the supernatural, though she's been illiterate for most of her life, so she hasn't been able to do much research. Now that she's moved up in social class, perhaps now she'll have the opportunity to learn to read and to learn more about the supernatural.
Eric is Landon's eldest son from his first wife, Hortense (may she rest in peace). He gets along well enough with his step-mother Isidora, but he still feels a bit lost after the death of his mother. He's been having pretty bad mood swings lately.
As the oldest child, he's expected to continue the family business of beekeeping, but his real dream is to become a horse breeder one day.
Graham Winthrop
Traits: Couch Potato, Virtuoso, Insane
Graham doesn't remember much about his mother, but he definitely inherited some of her quirks, like arguing with himself or pretending to be a dog on occasion.
Ever since a traveling music troupe made a stop-over in Ravenwood last year, he's had a strong interest in music, but his family can't afford any instruments right now. Perhaps he can make some money on the side and save up for a lute?
Sofya Winthrop
Traits: Genius, Easily Impressed
Sofya is Landon and Isidora's only child together so far. She doesn't seem to take after either of her parents, but we'll see how she grows and develops.
Anya Petrov
Traits and LTW: Loves the Outdoors, Natural Cook, Light Sleeper, Snob, Lucky; Bottomless Nectar Cellar
Anya is Isidora's elder sister. After she lost both of her parents in a flu outbreak, Anya decided to become a healer, in addition to her other duties on the family farm. As the oldest, she was expected to marry right away, but no one in town could hope to meet her high standards. So the two sisters struggled on their own for a while, until they ran into Landon Winthrop while he was on a pilgrimage.
When Landon asked Isidora to marry him and move back to Ravenwood with him, Isidora agreed, but under the condition that Anya stay with them until she found someone to marry as well. Landon had no objections; taking care of family was important to him, after all.
Here are some extra screenshots from spring with the Winthrops. Eric gets along really well with his step-mother Isidora, but he and Anya butt heads a lot. Their relationship is in the red.
One the first or second evening, Landon and Anya autonomously went outside to watch the stars together. I was like, "Excuse me? You guys are not married. What is happening?!?" I kept a close eye on them the rest of the week, but they didn't do any more autonomous romantic interactions with each other, though Landon and Isidora were all over each other, lol. Maybe Landon felt guilty for flirting with Anya and tried to overcompensate.
Eric rolled a wish to play dominoes, so he paid a visit to the military barracks because they're the only household with a dominoes board. Everything was going well until one of the soldiers, Jasper Maddox, completely beat the crap out of him. I still have no idea why they were fighting, but I'm pretty sure that Jasper was the initiator. I'm contemplating having him pay a fine and/or do jail time for assault if he ever becomes playable.
In other news, Anya has a couple of potential romantic interests now, though I neglected to get any screenshots. (sad) One is Ayden Cross, one of the military men, and the other is Katrina Howell, an Almshouse lady. Anya went on a date with Katrina, and they're friends, so in the summer I'll have her become friends with Ayden and see who she's more interested in.
