& THE DAYS GO BY.
ERIKA WATANABE ϟ 7TH YEAR, 17 ϟ RAVENCLAW ϟ HALF BLOOD ϟ HAYLEY KIYOKO
LIKE A STRAND IN THE WIND.
Erika was born to Akito Watanabe and Cayla Peterson in Tokyo, Japan. on Decmber 2nd, 1997. After living in Japan for seven years, Akito and Cayla moved their family to Dublin, Ireland, where Cayla is originally from. While Cayla reintegrated into Irish culture easily, her long time boyfriend and daughter were not used to this new place. Cayla was off talking to family and friends, enjoying her life, while Akito and Erika were mostly confused with this new place. After a while, it became evident that Cayla was happier in Ireland, happier without her family always wanting her, so Akito and Cayla broke up. They agreed to let Akito have full custody of Erika, with Cayla even going so far as to sign away her parental rights. It took only two years in Dublin to remind Akito and Erika of how much they missed home. Akito didn’t have nearly enough money to move back home to Japan, Akito decided to take his daughter to northern London, where a large population of Japanese immigrants was already in place.
Though London was definitely a better place for Erika, it was still all very confusing. By the time she was eleven and received her Hogwarts letter, however, everything was easier for her. After two years of saving up money, Akito decided an impromptu trip back to Tokyo would be best for his daughter. While in Tokyo, they got a Erika a wand by a Japanese wandmaker, a way for her to be connected to heritage at all times. The wand that chose her was made of cherry, of unyielding flexibility, had a length of 10¾ inches, and had a tsuchinoko scale core. When she arrived at Hogwarts, Erika was extremely nervous. Most of her life had been spent where Japanese was the most prevalent language, but now she would be in this place where there were likely to be no other Japanese people. Though she was nervous, she was also extremely excited. Since most of her life had been full of her speaking Japanese, she would finally be able to really speak English on a daily basis. After years of living in the UK & Ireland, Erika had figured out how to speak English without much of an accent at all, with the help of a speech therapist who was also working on her stutter.
Hogwarts was a dream to Erika. Upon arriving, she was Sorted into Ravenclaw. She had heard great things about it on the train ride there, so she was pleased with her Sorting. It was in the comfort of Ravenclaw that Erika was able to come terms with both her sexuality and gender. With all of these kids, who simply wanted to help the world better understand itself, she was able to find terms that fit her well. Being pansexual and panromantic in a place like modern Hogwarts was easy, and even identifying as genderqueer was relatively easy. Now in her seventh year, she has accepted herself for the most part, though the recent news about Harry Potter still troubles her greatly.
IN A WEB THAT IS MY OWN,
Erika, by nature is a caring and helpful person. What she wants most in the world is to see those she cares about succeed, which someone would say is a very Hufflepuff trait. She is kind, and is willing to offer a helping hand to anyone who truly needs it. She’s often seen hosting tutoring sessions in the Great Hall, or teaching some of the younger years interesting things about her Japanese heritage, with topics ranging from mythology to customs to language and back. With all of these nice traits, however, there are also bad ones. She is sarcastic, sometimes overly so, and tends to be extremely stubborn. Once she’s found what she wants to believe, it takes an awful lot to sway her. One of her greatest flaws is her ability to hold a grudge. If she thinks you’ve wronged her in a horrible way, she will not forget it. Though she doesn’t like to think about this trait, she can be extremely vengeful.
I BEGIN AGAIN.
