        she’s at his door, a common sight, but this time she looks distressed. moreso than usual, anyway, and when he answers, her words start spilling out before there’s even a greeting.

But third time’s a charm, right? --MAYBE. ( He’s the angry one, besides Eric. )  Coat half unzips, revealing one of his hamsters, safe in its plastic ball, dark eyes lost some of their usual shine.

        ANXIETY TIGHTENS HER CHEST DESPITE THE FACT THEY’VE BEEN FRIENDS FOR YEARS NOW. and in their friendship, the weight of feelings more than friendship had always been there, in the way her hand would find his when she was scared, and when gazes lingered as if drawing lips together like magnets only to be torn away a moment later. now, they’re sitting across from each other on her bed, schoolbooks scattered, and open, but not being read. mostly bare legs are stretched out, socked feet resting in his lap. nervous eyes glance up from her homework.
