yapping about failed incarnates
Im gonna reference uesp bcuz i love that site
basically i believe that the incarnates in the cavern are truly nerevar reborns same with the player (i saw a lot of different interpretation of that so im just gonna state it here) and to me some of them never got really involved in the nerevarine prophecy and some of them didnt even know that they were
most of stuff i will say here is my own intepretations yada yada bcuz otherwise i would have to write "to me" every sentence
Ane Teria was the first incarnate. she states she was born "in a golden era of the Tribunate" which idk specific timeline of that and she was a holy crusader of the Tribunal. She never believed in the Nerevarine until it was "too late" and i think she just means she died. She wrote something that now belongs to the apographa and thats what Vivec has to say about it
"suppress the Apographa: "Why did I suppress the Apographa? Because it was such an unfortunate mixture of truth, falsehood, and speculation that I couldn't afford to manage the confused reaction of our faithful. Any doubt whatsoever weakened their faith, and we needed their faith to give us the power to maintain the Ghostfence. In retrospect, perhaps we lost the faith of those we most needed while preserving the faith of the meek and indifferent. Perhaps a mistake was made. Who can say?"
anddd Ane Teria was the most connected to Nerevar and her mixture of "truth, falsefood and speculation" was something connected with foul murder. She had the most resemblence to Nerevar. Shes the first and was connected to the Tribunal as a way of Azura sending the most-nerevar-looking person to be close to them to send a message "I wasnt kidding when I said i was gonna reincarnate him". Vivec says in the dialogue above that it was to "strengthen the Ghostfence" which did exist when she was alive but if i understand it didnt really have a purpose until Dagoth Ur. Vivec used her writings as an excuse to have someone or them to kill her.
"cause others to suffer: "Why did I cause others to suffer? I respect that question, and you for it. The most I can say is: I did the best I could, as I saw things. Can you, mortal, presume to judge the actions and motives of a god? But, because I need you, and you need me, I will make an accounting for my sins, to you. But not now. Destroy Dagoth Ur, and then we will discuss my sins. Then, perhaps, you will have earned the right to judge me."
Well Vivec didnt need Nerevarine at all because Dagoth ur was still sleeping he woke up on 2E 882 and i think she existed earlier so Vivec was just deleting someone that "might weaken their people faith"
Conoon Chodala was the second. he knew about the nerevarine prophecy and tried to complete it. i did that quest in ESO but i barely remember it. He helped defeat the Akaviri that attacked morrowind in the 2E 572 and he died 2E 582 so theres not much to speculate about his timeline since ESO did it...but...WHY ESO PUT RANDOM ASS "INCARNATES" IN THAT ONE QUEST WHO ARE THOSE PEOPLE????? I KNOW IN MY INTERPRETATION MEANS THAT ANE TERIA WOULD APPEAR BUT COME ON DONT PUT RANDOM PEOPLE HERE?????? #notmyincarnates nuh uh i dont consider them like that idc that they appear here im just gonna ignore that is there any reason they did like that??? why doesnt we see them??? in morrowind??? he was lowkey cooked because how was he supposed to complete the second trial without Dagoth ur giving the divine disease. Azura set him up for failure. He did first, third and i think fourth trial??? we need to discard him as the Nerevarine so maybe that means four tribes called him that. Vivec send the Vestige to kill the Nerevarine and thats..maybe not their first time
Idrenie Nerothan was the third one. She helped to repel Akaviri invanders that happened in 2E 572 so she has to be after Chodala since he died in the 2E 582. She mentions Dagoth ur so Ashlanders were aware of the slowly his cult rising ?
"During the First Akaviri Invasion, a Failed Incarnate of the Nerevarine named Idrenie Nerothan traveled to the ruined Kogoruhn to loot it, and perished during her attempt.[6] Later on around 2E 582, descendants of the Sixth House formed a cult and attempted to revive the ancient House, setting up operations in the area around Kogoruhn known as the Forgotten Wastes."
She couldnt do the second trial since Dagoth Ur was sleeping so I think she tried to do the third trial because us the player had to go to kogoruhn and restore items so we would learn the location of the cavern and she never did
Hort Ledd was the fourth one. He straight up says he died 400 years ago and it fits because it would be the begin of the third era and thats when Vivec and Tiber Septim signed the treaty. He didnt do shit, thats all.
Erur-Dan was the fifth one. He had to be after Hort because he sees the consequences of that treaty while Hort was there when Empire came to Morrowind. He died of blight which means he didnt get past the second trial but looking at Chodala you can do those trials in different orders so he mightve gotten the ring?? but not more than that, he grew hateful and went under the Red Mountain but i dont think thats how he would react if he knew he was meant to kill the people he truly hated so he wasnt aware of being the Nerevarine
Peakstar was the sixth one. She couldnt live longer than to 3E 397 thats when she became a legends to the ashlanders and
"The Tribunal Temple searched for her unsuccessfully for many years, and finally announced she was dead."
Again with sending people to kill Nerevarines huh. so she became a legend many years after her death which its really vague but i think no more than 20 years since dunmer age differently? she also knows people from the ashlander tribes by name but that also means that our Nerevarine is young for a dunmer? theres a smaller timeline difference than with our incarnates but it might be Azura speedrunning or it became easier for her. She claims she survived the blight but the only person that is capable of curying us says that there isnt a cure and he tries to make the cure but it doesnt work until our Nerevarine shows up
"I'm sorry. The divine disease can't be cured. And the Temple will demand that you be imprisoned here in my Corprusarium, to protect the health of others. A pity. You had better put your affairs in order. The course of the disease varies. Sometimes it's rapid, sometimes very slow. I would hurry, if I were you. Now, excuse me."
"sometimes very slow" I think Peakstar never actually got cured from the blight like she thinks her process was just very slow so she mightve considered that because shes already cured
I also believe that because of her dialogue is similar to Dagoth Ur's
"Pity Dagoth Ur and the Sixth House. All they do, all they are is foul and evil, but they began in brightness and honor, and the cause of their fall was their loyal service to you, Lord Nerevar. You told Lord Dagoth to guard the profane tools beneath Red Mountain, and thus he was tempted. He did your bidding when he tried to keep these tools from the Tribunal, and so he hates you, who betrayed him, and the Tribunal, who mocked his honor, attacked him, and stole the profane tools for their own use." - Peakstar
"Once we were friends and brothers, Lord Nerevar, in peace and in war. No houseman ever served you better, or more faithfully. Much that I did was at your command, at great cost to myself, and my honor.
Yet beneath Red Mountain, you struck me down as I guarded the treasure you bound me by oath to defend. It was a cruel blow, a bitter betrayal, to be felled by your hand." - Dagoth Ur
"Welcome, Incarnate, Moon-and-Star Reborn, Hortator, Nerevarine, Mourner of the Tribe Unmourned, Redeemer of the False Gods. I am Peakstar. I was not the one. But I wait and hope. Ask, and I shall answer, if wisdom guides me." - Peakstar
"Is this how you honor the Sixth House, and the tribe unmourned? Come to me openly, and not by stealth." - Dagoth ur
Also they both call you Lord Nerevar which doesnt really make sense for Peakstar. Might be reaching but shhhh idc... Also either Dagoth Uthol or Dagoth Araynys because these two are the only one outside Red Mountain reach and Peakstar probably didnt go there. Uthol is in Kogoruhn and if Peakstar had to go through the same as the Nerevarine she had to go there buttt "Of the seven Ash Vampires, Uthol is unique in that he is the only one who will let you pass peacefully if you talk to him first. Just choose "come to submit" when he talks to you, and he'll let you go." since she wasnt a good fighter i think she didnt try to fight and Dagoth Araynys killed her i have no idea what she was doing at Mamaea but its more possible than being under Red Mountain. She did first, third and fourth(i mean if they call her a legends that means they had to call her a Nerevarine right?) trial.
And us the player are obliviously the seventh one.
Theres a lot about seven in Morrowind : seven ash vampires, seven incarnates, the seven visions, the seven curses.
I tried to look up the meaning of that number

i dont know how much it is accurate. Relating to the ash vampires i think it might be related spiritually and "completeness and perfection"
to Nerevarine it might be related to a journey of self-discovery and personal growth, spirituality
Okay so thats it feel free to correct or share your opinions but be nice please! I will try to answer them but sometimes i might just reblog or like it because idk what else to say!
