Seamless Recordings album launch @ Hotel Es Vive
Friday August 2nd saw another album launch at the lovely Es Vive hotel. Seamless Recordings presented their new album 'Somebody's Heaven' from Venus in Motion, with an evening of entertainment from 8.30pm to 8am the following morning.
DJs Angel Johnson (Venus in Motion), Clara da Costa, Tom Crane and Seamless Label Manager Graham Sahara spun the tunes, and there was a live performance from Abigail Bailey. Ibiza Angels were on hand to give head massages to weary punters and help them relax into the evening's entertainment.
Venus In Motion is the alter ego of Angel Johnson, a renowned house music DJ who began her career way back in 1991 and relocated to Barcelona from the UK with her studio in 2006. As well as Angel's love of House, she has always been passionate about the more down tempo, groovy, after hours music that resides comfortably - or sometimes uncomfortably - under the Chill Out umbrella. Angel had always written, produced, collaborated and hung out in studios but it's artists like Massive Attack, Nightmares On Wax, Everything But The Girl etc that first inspired her to want to write her own album in 2005.
Her latest album 'Somebody's Heaven' has beautifully crafted songs, quality production and that inimitable injection of sweet melancholy. The music itself is an eclectic mix inspired by jazz, soul, folk and dub. It embodies both an electronic and an organic vibe. The tracks distinctively weave together the sounds from long term collaborators like Chris Bucknall on keyboards, Tony Dallas on guitar and Karl Bingham on bass… sweetly elevated by the awesome vocal talents of Cherry Mars, Siobhan Lynch, Naomi Moss and Jack Kenworthy. Venus In Motion can frequently be heard at the worlds coolest lounge bars and sunset strip cafes, and regularly playlisted on Radio Stations like Ibiza Sonica Radio, reaching an even wider international audience.

I was lucky enough to be given a free copy of the album at the event and it really is good, and was perfect music for a Saturday morning after the night before.
We got to the event early because we had to go onto somewhere else, and started the night with a drink on the roof terrace of the hotel before the sun went down behind the hills in the background. The views from up there are great, looking across to Dalt Vila, the beach at Figueretas and the sea.
Back down in the courtyard, the party was getting going with Clara da Costa playing nice chilled tunes to accompany the beautiful Ibizan summer evening and the gorgeous environment that is the Hotel Es Vive. Unfortunately we had to leave during Clara's set, but by all accounts the party was a great success and did indeed go on all night!
