thought i’d revisit this crossed lines idea for drawing espio’s head, since i feel i lacked the skill to use it and explain it properly

most characters’ heads can be built from a circle, then the facing direction expressed by a vertical and horizontal line, i extend this line for espio and curve slightly for the shape. these lines wrap around the sphere as they would in 3D and go straight out, but curve slightly at the end. 

how far the lines extend and how curved they are can be altered to fit your own preference, but for accuracy, refer to official renders.

his horn placement is at the vertex (meeting) of the lines, it points almost completely horizontally out in the direction he is facing but curves up slightly.

not to say this is the best way or works perfectly but its a pretty reliable method for getting the shape of his weird head right and i find it very useful for my own art
