THE TAKEOVER
It was a great privilege and honor to work on the cover project of a lifetime for ESSENCE. Editor-in-Chief Vanessa DeLuca and Creative Director Erika Perry asked me to work on THIS “world of Shonda Rhimes,” ShondaLand, #TGIT takeover cover package. Talk about a WOW Moment. This is the type of project that comes once in a lifetime. Humbled, anxious, excited, overwhelmed, gracious, confident, and floored are the range of emotions that flashed through my mind. Six months later, six covers were created including a grand group of Shonda and her casts from “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “How To Get Away With Murder” were executed flawlessly. I’m so grateful that I am able to do what I love and make a living doing so. Shining the spotlight on someone as brilliant, down to earth, and successful as Shonda Rhimes is a blessing and gift. She and her team of executives, publicists and stars are par excellence. I aspire.
