Yes to the Dress
Remember how I said we made a follow-up appointment at All Things Bridal to show my entourage the choices, even though I was pretty set on a dress? Well that happened last Saturday! And I’m still living on the high of knowing that I found my dress.
My entourage consists of my mom, my future mother-in-law, my maid of honor, and two of my flower girls. The dress choices were narrowed down to a gorgeous lace A-line with floral-inspired lace and a fit-and-flare lace column sheath dress, both from Essense of Australia. Ever since the first appointment, I kept looking at pictures of these two dresses and how other brides wore them. While I loved the romantic look of the A-line skirt, it just didn’t give me the same bridal vibes as the lace fit-and-flare. (While I would totally love to list the style numbers, fiancé is pretty in tune with the internet and I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise before it happens).
So back to the dress appointment. When we got there, my party of 5 was seated while my consultant Anna brought me to the back to show me the dresses again and see if I felt the same about them, which of course I did.
So we decided to show my family the A-line dress first, which most of my family knew was my second choice, except for my mom who seemed to like it more when I showed her the pictures from the website. The reaction to that gown was pretty much what I expected it to be: “We think it looks really good on you, but you could probably have done better”
So we went back to the dressing room to put on my dream dress. As I put it back on, I knew that it was the one. From the lace detailing to the detail on the back to the gorgeous train, it was everything I wanted in a dress and more. It looks absolutely gorgeous with the train and with a potential bustle.
Anna put the veil on my head and opened the curtain for me to show my family. And the reactions told me everything I needed to know about how they felt about it. My mother-in-law even started crying (since she only has a son, I’ve essentially become her daughter), which caused everyone else to tear up.
This dress was so me. It was romantic. It was sexy. It was bridal. It was EVERYTHING.
While we were there, my mom even said yes to her mother of the occasion dress and let me say that my mom can totally rock any outfit. It was a double yes to the dress day.
My mother-in-law offered to pay for the dress and the veil and I love her so much! I cannot stop looking at the pictures that my family took for me. Now I have to wait another 8-10 months to put the dress back on again!
