armstrong is one of the oldest of the knights and also more or less raised rust. he's seen a lot of things in his time, and has quite literally fought dragons to defend his kingdom. he's very skilled, but also ultimately a massive sweetheart who just wants to help and protect those around him. he's also very distrustful of doc, citing that mages and magic usually mean bad news. fully blind in his left eye
tesla is quite poor and holds the monarchy in high disdain. they cobble together what things they can salvage and find to craft their inventions, which would be revolutionary to the kingdom if given the chance. rust seems to be trying to help them find a footing, as much as tesla dislikes him, and mockingly refers to him by his titles only. (at least, until tesla ends up falling for him.)
crown prince, rust has no interest in continuing the monarchy or the royal bloodline. if anything, he wants to dismantle the power structures already in place; raised mostly by the knights - primarily armstrong - he has little care for his family, and wants to better the lives of those in the kingdom. he's also head over heels for his childhood friend and most loyal knight, zero_one.
doc is... interesting. a mage who keeps to himself out in the depths of the woods, doc cares little for the kingdom, or anyone, really. he tolerates regular-ish visits from rust, and humours tesla's attempts to replicate his magic with technology and inventions, but otherwise is mostly mildly amused at best by the comings and goings of the kingdom. also speaks via magic + his crows
rust's childhood friend and most loyal knight, zero lives to serve their prince. it is almost never seen apart from rust. also has a sort of sixth sense for rust's location, including being all too aware anytime he tries to sneak out. they're also head over heels for rust, and the world's biggest shipper of rust and tesla - not that they'll tell you either of these things if you ask.
it's mostly a silly little au and im slowlyyyy writing and plotting it, so you should hear more of it from me :)
