From the moment Adrian caught sight of the golden aura in the lobby of the ski resort in Idaho, he knew he had to talk to its owner. Finding others that had the same strange abilities that he had proved to be a daunting task. He’d long since learned to pick them out based on the gold in their auras, but they were few and far between. Plus, any time he tried talking to them, the other Moroi would be clueless, or regard Adrian as though he were insane. It had been a couple of years since he’d seen the telltale gold and he didn’t want to let this opportunity go. The need to find someone like him was becoming his new obsession.
The girl, it seemed, was no ordinary Moroi. After asking around, he learned that she was none other than Vasilisa Dragomir, the last Dragomir princess. Thinking her best friend, Rose, would be a good way to introduce them, his hopes were dashed when he found out just how formidable ( and gorgeous ) the dhampir was.
Eventually Adrian decided on more unconventional means to introduce himself to Vasilisa. Surely if she had the same abilities as he did, she wouldn’t be surprised by the fabricated dream that he pulled her into. He stood in the center of the one of the resort’s beautiful gardens. Snow blanketed every surface –– though despite the lack of flowers, the sun shone down, giving the world a beautiful, glittering, crystalline look. When the blonde came into focus, he put on his most charming smile. ❝ Hey there, cousin. In bed right on time, aren’t you ? I bet you’re one of those good girls who does everything by the rules. ❞ He reached into his pocket and pulled out a clove cigarette, lighting it up more for the habit of the motions than the actual nicotine. After all, it was all part of the dream, and therefore not real.
