she was as beautiful as makkari could remember. it was hard to miss her, standing so tall and with her golden hair. truthfully, there was a small hatred in the fact that athena had always gotten the short end of the stick. she was strong, but she was guarded. she was kind, but she was careful. makkari had always been envious in the fact that she could be so many things at once and do it all so well. 

new york wasn’t normalcy for the eternal, but seeing her friend brought that on in no time. she had been waiting by the door of the apartment that the other had been cooped up in, the vibrations of feet causing eyes to look up and meet those of athenas. there was a wave of her hand, a small “hi athena” signed from the fingers on her hands.
