Chris Redfield x M!Reader x Ethan Winters
RE8
Fluff, Tooth Rotting Fluff, *Hints* Of Steaminess
It was a true rarity for Chris Redfield to take a day off without being forced. The man had been pretty much stockpiling vacation days for years unintentionally. The only reason he took this one was because his favourite co-worker, Y/N, invited him over to spend the holiday season with him and his boyfriend, Ethan Winters.
The couple met after a long and sorry night. Chris' squad, with Y/N as his right hand man, were trying to track down the elusive son of the Baker family, while Ethan was on the property fighting for his damn life. Ethan lost his wife that night, and Y/N was there to comfort him on the flight to safety while Chris stayed behind to finish the mission. Since that day, Y/N was always the one Ethan would call when the night's were too dark and quiet to spend alone. This eventually, after a year of the two dancing around their feelings, neither being too sure whether they were too soon or even appropriate at all, led to a very soft and gentle relationship blossoming between the pair.
Chris was trying to be happy for his buddy, he was happy for him, but it was impossible to look past his own affections for Y/N. They had always been there. Simmering. Somewhere in the back of his mind. He let himself dream of a life not so dissimilar to the one he'd given Ethan. A comfortable and mellow one where he wasn't who he was. Where he was normal, loved. But he was too late, and maybe that was for the better? Ethan was normal, safe, easy, untainted. Y/N needed someone like that, hell, they all did. Someone good to come home to. Maybe Chris was an idiot with blind hope.
But he was lonely, and of course Y/N knew. He knew Chris better than anyone, he could tell you exactly what call Chris just got based solely on the tension in his eyebrows. So Y/N inviting Chris to his holiday celebration with Ethan, yes, was very sweet of him, but undeniably odd. "I thought you didn't celebrate Jesus' Birthday." Chris remarked.
"Oh, I don't." Y/N shook his head, sipping on his hot coffee "I don't, but you know Ethan. He's got white boy swag, he loves this kinda shit. And it was a join decision, so don't think that ether of us is forcing the other. We both want you there." Chris rolled his eyes and pretended he needed to think about it. But if Y/N was the one asking, Chris would do anything.
He arrived at their new place just before the sun reached the centre of the sky. Y/N had asked him to bring no gifts, only the home brew beer he worked on in his free time (whenever he got it), so Chris stood outside their pine wood door holding a small cooler full of clinking glass bottles. He knocked on the door with his knuckles, hand ungloved for the lonest consecutive time in over a decade.
Ethan's smiling face was the one that greeted him kindly. He opened the door wider and invited Chris inside, once his coat was removed and hung on the rack, Ethan showed him around, very clearly obnoxiously proud of the decorating he had done to the interior. All the thistle and garlands, the colored lights, the small statues littering windowsills and shelves, eventually leading to the obnoxiously bright and cheery tree in the center of the living room. Ethan had him leave the cooler in the kitchen, then took him to the adjoining living room. He gestured for Chris to take a seat while he left to grab Y/N from his home office.
For some reason, Ethan had started filling Chris with desire too. A very similar desire to what Y/N gave him. He assumed it was just envy, right? He wanted to take his place, he was jealous of him for having Y/N, but that cute little guy had his own charms. He was cute! After Ethan ran upstairs, Chris found himself exploring the room with his eyes. He hadn't been in a home this warm and lively since he was a teenager. The decorations really managed to pull him back to his childhood, sitting by the fire with dad, making cookies with mom, unwrapping gifts with Claire, even kissing that one girl back at a house party in high school. The memory of that moment brought his eyes to the ceiling, which revealed dozens of mistletoe dangling above. One above the door he just entered through a few in the kitchen, one at the bottom and top of the stairs, several dotted around the living room, most notably, right above his head. The man turned bright red. He scooted over a little so there was just the regular eggshell white celling above him.
A cheerful Y/N stomping down the stairs shook Chris from his startled trance. He tried to stand, to meet him politely, but Y/N was faster than he anticipated. In moments, a pair of muscular arms encased him in a warm hug. The action filled Chris with that odd fuzz Y/N often gave him. "Hi!" He beamed "Thanks for comin', I was worried you'd blow it off and go drinking."
"Nah." Chris shook his head, "I actually like you two somewhat."
The pair laughed behind him, Ethan who came around to sit beside Chris, and Y/N who climbed over the back of the couch to sandwich him on the other side. Chris shifted uncomfortably, wiping his increasingly sweaty palms on his jeans at the sudden proximity, though the other two didn't seem to mind much. They begun chatting normally like they weren't squeezing a fully grown man between them. Chris struggle to keep up.
At a certain point, Ethan hopped up to grab some beers from Chris' cooler left in the kitchen leaving the two co-workers alone to talk idly about life. Chris shuffled imperceptibly closer to him. He felt an intense stab of jealously as Y/N described his normal life. The idea of going through hell every work day and then being able to come home to a home cooked meal and a warm pair of arms had always been foreign to Chris Redfield, who only knew comfort at the feeling of a gun in his hand. A bullet leaving the chamber.
Ethan returned to the spot, sandwiching Chris in again and suddenly he felt the propinquity between himself and Y/N. He didn't need to be this close. Why are these idiots being so... cuddly? Don't they think it's weird to be so- But at the same time, he wasn't exactly telling them to stop, was he? Though he was lonely. He had an excuse, why would they...?
They complimented his home brew, Y/N patted his shoulder with a gracious smile. Chris couldn't tell exactly, but a part of him thought the touch lingered just a little too long. In the few seconds he spent overthinking each microscopic movement from Y/N, Ethan had picked out a movie and filled the tense air with the stereotypical bells and rings of the Christmas season. The next person to leave was Y/N running to the kitchen to decorate the sugar cookies he prepared earlier today after a loud timer went off on their phone. This time, Ethan was the one to shuffle closer. Chris' face was a bright red as he remembered where the mistletoe was. Right above Ethan.
Why the hell were these two being so- so- unusually close? And why to him? If they wanted to be lovey dovey, why not with each other? Ethan said something innocuous that got lost under the thudding of his heartbeat and the fluffy meaningless movie dialogue, Chris shook his head clear and turned to face him, asking him to repeat himself with only his eyes.
"Oh, uh, sorry. Was just saying how hot that guy is." Ethan shrugged like it was a normal thing to talk about hot men with a...
"Y-Yeah. He's a pretty, uh... Good looking dude." Chris nodded stiffly. He'd never admitted his attraction to certain men aloud before, and right here, such a thing was mundane. Not even a notable occurrence.
Ethan furrowed his brows, smiling a little "Are you... interested in guys? I just realised we've never seen you-"
"I think so." Chris interjected with a tiny nod. "I mean, both. Girls and..."
"Oh!" Ethan seemed oddly energised by this confirmation "Awesome. Me too." He snuggled in closer, but at least he wasn't directly bellow the mistletoe anymore.
Chris turned redder somehow, he wanted to call it out, but didn't want to seem disrespectful. Or for it to end at all, Ethan was warm. Ethan was comfortable. "Never..." He begun hoarsely "Never been with a guy though. Just thought about it."
Again, Ethan was energised by this, it was like Chris was taking a test and getting every answer right. A loud thud, Y/N dropped something in the kitchen, but Ethan didn't seem to notice "Would you like to?" A thick wad of saliva made its way down Chris' throat as he examined Ethan's face. What did this mean? Was he implying something?? No way, right? Not with his boyfriend in the other room. Before he could respond, he felt a hand squeeze his thigh "You know, Y/N and I have been talking, and..." He leaned in closer, somehow Chris couldn't move. It should be so easy to move "I mean, if you're interested at all, but we've been talking about maybe asking you to... to join us..."
"Wh-What?" He huffed, struggling to stay cool "Join you like a cult or something?"
"I'm asking you if you'd be at all interested in having two boyfriends. We've been thinking it over for months and we both agree you're... you're a part of this, uh... we just... we both really enjoy having you around and-"
"No way. I'm not even entertaining this conversation while he's in the other room."
"Alright. No pressure, we just wanted to offer, and since you're here and you're..." Ethan laughed at his own awkwardness "you're looking really good today- Sorry, I'm being so weird-" He was cut off by a sudden kiss the surprised Chris more than it did Ethan.
He didn't know why he did it exactly. But Ethan was sitting there, nervously heaving, making awkward jokes, and abruptly, out of nowhere, he realised just how unbearably cute this man was. Just how badly he wanted to never stop kissing him.
His lips were odd, or maybe they only felt that way to someone who'd only ever known soft skin ad feminine shapes. Ethan was rougher, drier, bumpier. There was more to explore, taste, get lost in. Chris brought his hands up to nestle in Ethan's short hair, another new experience, the only short hair he'd ever felt was his own, and that was never like this, never clean, never dry, never smelt like someone new. Ethan Winters and his hold was a maze Chris Redfield could happily get lost in for the rest of time. He would never be satisfied until every single hidden treasure had been found and logged in the museum of his mind.
They parted after hearing a horrified gasp.
Y/N stood in the doorway to the kitchen holding a colourful plate of sugar cookies in his shaking hands "What the hell, Ethan??"
Chris jumped off the couch, passed the room in mortification. Ethan chucked nervously "S-Sorry, did you want to tell him together?"
"Tell him what??" Y/N spat "That you're a cheater?" He came further into the room to set the cookies down on the coffee table, then turned to Chris who was rubbing the back of his neck and hiding his bright red face "What were either of you fucking thinking??"
Ethan hopped off the couch and made his way over to grip Y/N's large, callused hands "Honey, we said we'd- we agreed to-" He lost his voice part way through his pleading, his face fell when Y/N started laughing.
"I'm just fucking with you. Dork."
"What?" Chris panted, his heart going a mile a minute. Ethan shared his confusion.
"We did agree to ask you. But doing it without me??? Ethan, how cruel can you be?"
Ethan whimpered, gripped his boyfriends hands tighter "I'm so sorry honey..."
Again Y/N laughed, "Oh, don't even bother. I'll never be able to forgive you. You evil, evil man." He pulled himself away and retook his spot on the couch.
Chris cleared his throat awkwardly before attempting to join in on the light teasing "Yeah, right, who does a thing like that?"
But this interruption only served to bring Y/N's attention to him "Why'd you go along with it, Chrisy Boy?"
"I'm on your side!"
"There is no side-!"
"Stop fighting!!" Ethan cried out, face bright red and full of shame "Stoppppp!!"
Both Y/N and Chris turned to Ethan. Y/N's hands were on his hips, Chris' arms were crossed. They each gave him a disappointed glare, Y/N spoke first "You're right. We should be focusing on you, Mister!"
Chris was grateful to have the attention taken off him, but decided to stay quiet this time as Y/N teased his boyfriend. He watched for a while until Y/N pulled him down to the couch to sit between Ethan and himself. Right under the mistletoe. His face turned red. Chris tried to avoid looking at either man at his side.
Then Y/N said his name. His eyes moved first, his face followed suit. Y/N smiled, took his face in his hands, ran his thumb over his jaw where facial hair had freshly sprouted. His eyes were stunning, sultry, kind and undeniably yearning. "Ethan had his turn." Chris nodded in response, even though it wasn't a question. "Can I have mine?"
He never got the chance to nod this time, Y/N was already moving towards him. This kiss was rougher than Ethan's, far more texture to explore, and Ethan was a gold mine of feeling on his own. With his facial hair that collided with Chris' own and Y/N's thick hands that matched Chris' which were planting themselves on his shoulder and his hip. Chris was loosing his mind imagining what he'd lost out on for so long. Their parting left warm, masculine breath lingering on his tongue, his lips, his mind.
Ethan's hands wrapped around Chris' back, lightly feeling him up under that black turtleneck that just looked far too good to resist. As Chris turned his attention back to Ethan, Y/N came in too, hands landing on his waist, one trailing a smidge lower. "You're okay with this, right?" YN whispered into Chris' ear "Or should we stop?"
Chris' eyes fluttered closed, he tilted his head, exposing more neck, found a soft sigh escaping his lips, "If either of you stop, I'll kill you both."
The boys laughed in near perfect synchronisation then kept at it. Y/N caressed his scarred and muscular body, easing any and all aches and pains, Ethan kissed away all his anxieties. They taught him what it meant to love a man, taught him the secrets and intricacies he never would've found on his own. They made it so easy to get lost, to fall...
