Have you ever played Euchre? (And where are you from?)
I’m from* the Midwestern** US and I have played Euchre
I’m from the Midwestern US and have heard of Euchre but not played
I’m from the Midwestern US and don’t know what Euchre is
I’m from elsewhere in the US and have played Euchre
I’m from elsewhere in the US and have heard of Euchre but not played
I’m from elsewhere in the US and don’t know what Euchre
I’m not from the US and have played Euchre
I’m not from the US and have heard of Euchre but not played
I’m not from the US and don’t know what Euchre is
I’m bald / nuance / see results
(*If you’ve lived in the Midwest for a considerable portion of time but don’t live there now and/or weren’t raised there, you count as Midwestern for the purposes of this poll.
**Use your discretion as to what counts as the Midwest. I’m counting Michigan and Ohio, personally, though I know there’s some debate over what counts as Midwest.)
This poll is brought to you by the fact that both my high school and university had Euchre tournaments (and the latter actually has a euchre club), and all of my Midwestern family members know how to play. But talking to my friends from the southern US and US east coast, none of them have heard of Euchre. So I’m trying to figure out if this is a regional thing or just a Michigan thing or what.
I would have loved to break down “non-US” into more categories, but the limited number of poll options really limited me here.
Tehsnowyowl presents: Euchre
Inspired by the deck of cards and its royal family, Euchre is an attempt to anthropomorphize the various cards and how I could make them feel like a group of their own.

Source details and larger version.
They've had many lives and many ages: cats I've met in my time travels.
Designing more background/minor characters for SRC, this time Shelem's mom and the owner of The Ricottage.
Euchre [pronounced yoo-ker] is a mature sorcerer woman who left Khartes Trichier behind to start a cheesemaking business on mainland Cier. At the time, she had brought her husband with her - said husband, being an animal farmer, bringing young khormun stock to the mainland so they could bring milk with them too.
Euchre's husband has since passed away due to health complications, but the farm her family ran has since been taken over by trusted family friends. Just before her husband passed away, Euchre had her first and only daughter Shelem, who changed the course of her life for the better after the devastating loss of her husband.
Nowadays she doesn't work as much due to her own health and mental complications, but she still runs The Ricottage and entrusts her chickatoo friend Stilton with most of the hard customer work inside. If or when she becomes too ill to work anymore, she plans on passing the business on to her daughter.
It's actually not uncommon for female sorcerers to have good amounts of facial hair. This leads to them being increasingly androgynous to human eyes, but it's just a normal feature of a woman's face over in their lands, to the point that men with facial hair are essentially equated to femboys in Khartes Trichier.
not to be too cocky but i deeeefinitely think that my brother and i could beat pete wentz and patrick stump in a game of euchre
This is a partly formed thought, so bear with me here.
God is shown as playing a game of cards with the universe.
Is God playing euchre?
Something about playing with opposing teams and people having to trust their partners because they can't share their cards.
And Agnes Nutter referring to Aziraphale and Crowley as "the Two Powers" and euchre has two bowers, which are two Jacks.
And there being a situation where a Jack of Clubs is actually a Jack of Spades (hidden in plain sight sort of stuff).
And the two Joker cards were invented because of the game euchre.
And each play being called a trick. Euchre is a game of tricks.
And in British rules there is a play called Playing Policemen. Muriel comes to mind.
There is also a play called Going Alone, the ultimate flex in a euchre game. It’s a high-risk, high-reward move in euchre where a player is confident they can play and win all five tricks in a hand without the help of their partner. Sort of like Aziraphale going it alone in Heaven to stop the Second Coming.
And the game being described as sort of chaotic and hard to understand.
I don't entirely understand this game, but enough details seem to relate to the show that I wonder. Maybe someone with more experience with euchre could add to this.
