Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote an epic poem about Evangeline on her journey to find her lost love, Gabriel. Her story takes place during the Expulsion of the Acadians in 1755-1764. Her grave shrine (The Evangeline Oak) is located in Saint Martinville, Louisiana.
