EVENT 001, THE POTLUCK.
+ OPEN / CHARITY EVENT
"Oh, yes, don't worry – I'll be sure to tell them you came. It'll mean so much," Emine tells the stranger she doesn't quite recognize but who'd felt compelled to interrupt her conversation to give well wishes. Your brother said such lovely words about Elif. I was certainly moved. She'll be missed. The witch nods again, swallowing to keep a bright smile in place. "She will. Definitely. Thank you." She waves goodbye when they finally retreat, and returns her focus to her companion. "Sorry, what were you saying?" Emine asks, trying to focus on them and not the thick lump in her throat. "Oh, right," she snaps her fingers, "the vase? Are you going to bid on it?"
@lainsolus,
“I thought you’d go down with more of a fight,” Eric jested in a boastful manner, any spectrum of violence a kindred spirit to them. It was a lifetime of attempting to fix the chasm of their soul with petulant fights, split knuckles and bloodied noses to no avail and this event proved no different, fixing their sable hair into a messy sweep of a bun, letting out an exasperated breath in finality. He couldn’t say his words held any genuine verity, the other looking more strung out than anything, though Eric had an acute obsession with being on any span of good terms with the other lycans of Rome, lest being on their bad side would create any more problems for him.
erebus’s presence was necessary at the gala after their sizable donation. it was mostly for appearances ; some had doubts of the mc’s legitimacy , and philanthropy seemed to help their public image. it’s for the pack , she reminded herself when boredom struck. perched at the bar , catarina turned to her left and inquired of the person standing beside her , “ i hadn’t expected such a turnout. what brings you here, anyway ? ” examining their acquaintance’s drink , cat’s nose wrinkled every so slightly. “ and what the hell are you drinking ? ”

valeriya had been intrigued by the idea of a gala , only to be let down upon arrival. not that she expected anything different , but the necessity of discretion was putting a damper on her night. there were endless options for feeding , but valeriya was certain she’d be going home hungry. trying not to let her sour mood show , valeriya held her chin up high , prancing around confidently with a drink in hand.
the open bar possessed some bizarre japanese whiskey . . . hints of melon , grapefruit , and thick syrup , they had advertised ; not that anything other than blood had much of a pleasant taste nowadays. she had ordered it neat and swirled it around curiously in her glass before taking a tentative swig. a burning sensation accompanied a tolerable taste , one that valeriya was certain she would’ve enjoyed had she still been human. spotting a lone bystander with their back turned to her , she approached them in the interest of sociability with a gentle hand lightly gripping their shoulder. “ i’m guessing you’d be having more fun with a drink in your hand . . . here , try mine. ” she outstretched her hand , offering them the glass ( in part , just to see their reaction ).

“I can’t believe you actually got me on that thing ─ I’m never letting you suggest a ride again.”
come to the party, jon. it’ll be a good time, jon. they’ll always be swayed by their mother’s sweet tone, convincing them of doing even the most menial of tasks --- as if getting dressed up to attend a wedding where a majority of the guests were people of the city’s underbelly was a chore. jon is here because his mom asked him to, simple as that.
but just as jon was getting good at blending into the corners of the venue with his cache of liquor taken from waiters, his mother surprises him once again. lyanna dropped him off at the entrance before the ceremony, telling him to join his cousins, and hadn’t returned until now. jon can see why. ‘ ah, ’ they grumble, bringing up the glass to hide their face, ‘ does anyone know the stealthiest way out of here ? or at least a paper bag i can shove my head into ? ’
